I'm guessing it's because they consider homosexuality to be a choice, not an integral part of how God made the homosexual. And because they believe this, they can tell themselves that they're fighting immoral BEHAVIOR as opposed to discriminating and being needlessly cruel. They can tell themselves that THEIR actions are different because their ancestors didn't CHOOSE to be black. They are able to delude themselves into believing that God hates gays and so should they.

Wrong. There actually IS a health benefit for men sitting down to pee. It relaxes the floor of the bladder and allows you to completely empty. This in turn lowers the risk of bladder and urinary tract problems.

Women tend to equate love with sex. (After all, only sluts have sex with men they don't love!) So our magazines tend to cater to that belief. To most men, sex is just sex and at a remove from emotional attachment. That doesn't mean they don't want a loving relationship, just that they compartmentalize better than most women do. My mother always said that men use love to get sex and women use sex to get love.

I go barefoot almost everywhere that isn't a "public area" ('public' being grocery/stores, movies, cafes, work, etc) and nobody has ever said anything to me. Depending on where you're at, even some public places accept nekkid feet without comment...like the convenience stores around the lake, outdoor eateries, etc. I suggest that as a rule of thumb - for politness sake, if you (or any average guy) wouldn't go there without a shirt, don't go there without shoes.

it's been well documented in blind studies that assigning gender affects perception. In one particular study, subjects are shown a report. Half are told it was written by a man and the other half that it was written by a woman. Without exception, the report by the female received a lower score for professionalism, quality of work, and subject knowlege than the report written by the man. The thing is...it was the SAME report.

maybe the reason that these people are so ill-informed about minorities is BECAUSE they aren't exposed to them. It's natural to be wary of something or someone outside of your experience. They look different, they talk different, they act different...therefore they threaten our values and our society. Protecting the family and the tribe is part of our survival instict. Sometimes that suspicion translates as fear or contempt. The more diverse the nation becomes, the less these views will resonate.

Companionship implies an ongoing, long-term, one-on-one relationship. I would think that the incapacitated spouse might find that hurtful. And hiding such a relationship from them would hurt even worse. But if by 'companionship' you mean 'sexual relief', I should think that most people would find the occasional prostitute or one night stand easier to accept than they would their mate building an intimate relationship with a possible replacement. But whatever arrangement the couple decides on for themselves is THEIR business and no one elses.

your understanding of the Federal Reserve is flawed on several points. First, it is NOT a private corporation. It is a public/private partnership with oversight provided by a Board of Governors, members of which are appointed by the President. What you describe is, in effect, what was originally envisioned for the American banking system by Republican Nelson Aldrich. Democrats favored a reserve system owned and operated by the government that would end Wall Street's control of American currency supply. The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 was a mix of the two. Government oversight and control of privately owned financial institutions.

I hate giving AND getting. There is no shared emotion, just impersonal physical stimulation. It's just sex, not lovemaking. I want my husband to make love to me, not just screw my face.

I thought this forum was for asking all those questions that wouldn't normally be socially acceptable. Julie asked a question that she'd probably be embarrassed to ask of any black person she knew and it's unfair for her to be scolded for it.

it wasn't always like that. Until abortion was legalized, only the murder of the woman counted. The pro-fetus lobby pushed the through a change in the law so they could use it to 'illustrate' the 'life' of a fetus. IMO it should never have been changed. A woman can exist without a fetus, but a fetus cannot exist without that one particular woman.

everything she said plus Target has never been sued for gender discrimination or forcing their employees to work through their legally mandated breaks and lunches, nor done them out of overtime pay they were owed. For these reasons and more, I prefer Costco or Target. Same stuff, better companies.

If you believe that God created 'us' and you believe that God knows all that is, that was, and that shall ever be...then the idea of 'free will' is ludicrous. He "creates" with the knowlege of every door we will open, every thought we'll have, and every choice that we'll make...because that's the way he MADE us!

we're affluent enough to pay people to drive the street sweepers around and pick up garbage at the parks. Not to mention the scofflaws doing community service on the side of the highways. Maybe impoverished areas don't have the resources to spend cleaning up after everyone, like wealthier places do.

I've never actually HEARD a joke ribbing a white man. I've heard redneck jokes, farmer jokes, hillbilly jokes etc. but never one that explicitly uses race as a punchline. At least not one that was worth telling - How many times have you heard "A white guy, a black guy, and a Mexican walk into a bar..." that ends up with the white guy being the 'butt' of the joke?
