Though certainly the United States is a hodgepodge of cultures, Protestant Christianity is the dominant religious movement here. I am an agnostic and believe in the separation of church and state, one thing this country was supposedly founded on. However, I graduated from a public (government-funded) high school and a public university and was asked to bow my head in prayer to God at each graduation ceremony at least once. This is a manifestation of the dominant influence of Protestantism on this country. The only non-Protestant, religious president we have had has been Catholic (John F. Kennedy). We have had several agnostic presidents, but our country fears the powers of religion outside of Protestant Christianity. Personally I have a problem with fundamentalists of any religion - the Jerry Falwells and Osama bin Ladens of the world are all the same to me. I respect other spiritual endeavors, however, and hope that the average American does, too.

Using comedy to address pain and wounds is often the best way to heal. I am white, but I'm not racist, so I like any comedian who makes fun of racist people - white, black, green or purple - because racism is so asinine and ignorant. The more we make fun of it, the less power racism has, and it will continue to lose strength. The way I see it, these comedians are not so much saying all whites are racist as they are making fun of those who are. It would make me really happy to see a comedian make fun of all racist people, of all ethnicities, but I suppose we haven't gotten that far yet.

Much of the porn industry is dominated by heterosexual men, many of whom fantasize about threesomes. Often, a heterosexual male's concept of a threesome equals two girls all over one guy. When these guys see two girls together, they mentally put themselves between the two girls. However, this is of course a very general statement (and for all you guys with this fantasy, I warn you that the girls are much more likely to be all over each other and leave you out). Another reason (again having to do with the dominating party of the porn industry) is that heterosexual men do not often fantasize about other men - they fantasize about women. Adding another woman to the visualization is just an added bonus.

Most women meet their sexual peak somewhere in their forties or fifties - the high level of desire is likely to last from the thirties to sixties. Men reach their sexual peak in their teens and twenties, so you are an attractive find as someone who is likely both experienced and lusty.

I'm the perfect person to answer your question, because I am one of the hypocrites you refer to, although I am not necessarily the extreme 'pro-war' type. The main reason I am more concerned with the welfare of domesticated animals in this country than with children in other countries is that human beings of any age have more control over their own destiny than any domesticated animal. Second, there are many more people who care about the plight of children than the plight of animals - I feel like the animals need my support more. And finally, as a historian, I must concede that war, for whatever reason, does not discriminate according to age. It's the unfortunate reality.

My typical response is 'oh, OK.' I'm bisexual and have no problem with any sexual orientation that doesn't involve children or other species. However, the reason people are stuck in the notion that they have to reassure you that it is 'OK' with them that you're gay is that often their experience dictates that they must do this. For example, one of my best friends is a lesbian. My husband (who is extremely nosy) asked her if she was bisexual, and she replied, 'No, even worse.' Even worse? She's used to getting criticized by people for her sexuality, and people like us see that, and feel the need in future circumstances to assure people that we are not the criticizers.

Excellent point. People will tell you that 'someone has to stay home to run the country' as a reason for women not being drafted - which is garbage, because, yes, someone does have to stay here, but it doesn't have to be all of one gender. Draft a certain percentage of the population, regardless of gender (if we ever have a draft again) and the other percentage will stay home. It's absolutely ridiculous and I agree with you completely.

I'm sorry that you have to deal with prejudice; however, I believe it is unnecessary to label your sexuality, especially when you are so young. Allow yourself to be attracted to whomever you are attracted to; fantasize about whoever you want to. If you must have a label, choose one after you've had more experience.

I'm not in the 'young men' category you requested, but feel I am qualified to answer your question. I am 23 and pursuing a master's degree in U.S. military history. Among the people my age I associate with (of both genders), an utmost respect for the military prevails. We collectively agree that the best opportunities for guaranteed success in life are the military and college. Though at times we may disagree with the policies and directives behind the soldiers, even those I know who participate in peace protests recognize the importance of our military - the men and women who so assist our country deserve great respect.

Look at Sean Connery. He's ancient, bald, and girls my age still get hot about him. You have nothing to worry about.

Television stations conduct surveys to discover what kinds of people are watching which shows. Commercials target the primary audience of a show; therefore, what commercials you catch depends on what you're watching. For example, during 'All My Children' and other melodramatic daytime shows, the commercials are geared primarily toward white, suburban housewives. During the Bernie Mac show or Martin, the commercials more likely target the African-American audience. I tire of this sort of 'prescription' advertising, and have quit watching network television because of it.

Beatniks recited poetry to drums in the 1960s, which was a similar musical movement to rap and hiphop. I don't understand how some country music, which sounds like the whine of a mosquito, can be listened to without agitation, so I suppose we all have different taste.

Ultimately, you'll have to ask him these questions. No Y? Forum reader can accurately tell you what's going on inside his head. While each of us might be able to give you our experience with stereotypical 21-year-old guys, the fact is, everyone's different. The important thing is that if you can't get a straight answer from him, or you're unsatisfied with whatever answer he gives you, you should move on - for your own happiness.

It is equally grotesque when any couple chooses to slobber all over one another in public. If you're not grossed out by straight people flaunting their sexuality in public, I think you need to watch more pornography at home, because in which case, you like watching other people be sexual towards one another as long as they are straight.
