What’s up with the “gay male” double standard?

Straight Men run this society for the most part. In the U.S., being gay, still, means being weak/different/subversive to this power base. 2 men going at it is too much of a challenge to their mindset, but 2 women is a different story. It's everything they like about sex (girls) and nothing they proclaim to not like (guys). as well, in lesbo porn, there's no other guy to, possibly, make them feel inadequate re: their dicks/bodies/faces/etc.

It's not lesbianism the men are fascinated with. It's the idea of getting with two women. Two normal-looking non-supermodel lesbians having sex would not turn on the average guy, especially if they take on the whole 'butch dyke' look. And seriously, gay men are treated the same way sometimes. I mean, look up 'yaoi' in a search engine and see how many fangirls are screaming how adorable it is. It's just not as open to the public.

im definitely straight, but what i've been told by other straight girls is that a girls body is beautiful and a guy's isn't. Somewhere down the line though, society made girls flirting acceptable and guys not acceptable.

Seems obvious to me. Lesbian scenes are exciting to straight men because men in general are turned on by visual cues (which is why they like graphic porn more than women do.) Women, on the other hand, seem to require more psychological stimulation (hence the popularity of romance novels and chick flicks). If women's sexuality was as visually motivated as men, I'm sure there'd be a lot more straight women renting gay male porn videos (though I imagine that a few do.) Since men control more of our entertainment and media, we see more lesbian images in our culture. And since we've all been taught to accept women as beautiful objects, these images don't seem so shocking or offensive.

I don't find it offensive at all. In fact, every time I've seen two men kiss, it's always seemed genuine to me. Well over half the time I see women kiss, I find it somewhat exploitive... like it's just being done to give me wood. I personally hate being led around by my dick by Hollywood, and as is more often the case these days, Madison Avenue.

i know many men who like watching girl-girl porn with no guy in it because two beautiful women getting all sexed up is two times the eye candy, and having to starte at 'hairy man-ass' ruins it. I think I speak for the majority of men when I say that watching two women together, I *don't* 'mentally insert myself between them'... I'm getting off on what they do to each other, with no man present. I think it's at least partly aesthetics, and partly a voyeur thing.
