Have two very close friends who work for DCF here in Florida. One who I met, had been in the field for about ten years, and the other I knew as she was entering the field. The first was disgusted, unhappy and counting the days until retirement. The second was full of hope and good intentions. Now, years later, they both act like a truck has run over them everyday. No compassion, very racist and try to suck up every benefit the state gives them to make the whole thing worthwhile. The system itself is set-up to fail its clients and its employees. State Workers are beat down to complacency and indifference. Yes they do get dowdy and ill-tempered. All the play is taken out of the pup, so to speak.

I know most dont think the texture of black hair is desirable. But as the years and styles have changed, I noticed black women cropping their hair very short. I think the style is great and have never seen a black woman who didnt look good in it. Maybe its the strong features and bone structure of the face, but I think that look is great for a black woman who is tired of fighting the texture.

I had occasion to go to one on business. What a mess: 90 percent of the people there were black. They don’t know how to say hello, goodbye, yes ma’am, no sir or much else without a grunt or a grumble. They can’t seem to fill out the paperwork or have an appropriate response to a question. You mentioned that you teach your children empathy. These people who make up a lot of the black community haven’t been taught to read or write, much less basic behaviors. Most don’t have positive role models. You’re not going to fix something that has been broken for a long time.
