As a result all media targets younger people. Women on the other hand have the reproductive imperative, meaning they must forge lasting relationships earlier in life or be left childless.

The opponents of this ridiculous Prop 8 we have in California screwed up by holding rallies in WeHo, Hollywood and Silver Lake (traditionally supportive communities) and totally ignored Gateway, Koreatown, Watts and such (areas where lower income blacks and immigrants live). They preached to the choir and got blindsided by the congregation. It's been stunning to realize how homophobic some groups in this state are. Even more unbelievable if you look at who's paying the lion's share of the taxes and who's receiving the most tax funded services. The well educated, high earning gays and lesbians are paying the bills for all these lower income, uneducated people who just slammed them at the polls.

What "white" people need to realize is that our long struggle to evolve from our racist ancestors has not been fully shared with our fellow citizens of other races. While most educated "minority" people are enlightened enough not to act like what you have suffered. Far too many, especially those who don't identify as American, fully expect to treat whites in 2009 the way whites treated their ancestors in 1850.
