I’d love to see a lesbian Barbie Doll and a gay Ken doll. Can you imagine the wardrobe & accessories and companion dolls?! Just Curious

Blacks aren’t the only ones who’ve suffered oppression. AS Bill Cosby suggested, it’s time for blacks to stop making excuses. When your ancestors were sold as slaves, mine were persecuted in Europe and killed & raped for being Jews. Jewish slavery goes back to biblical times and our oppression has continued ever since. Jews were killed and tortured for their beliefs during the Crusades, Spanish Inquistion, and Holocaust. The Holocaust – when 6 million Jews were slaughtered – occurred almost 100 years AFTER the abolition of slavery, yet we’re not using it as an excuse for lack of accomplishment. My 4 grandparents were immigrants, with little or no formal education. NOne spoke a word of English when they came to U.S. My parents had to learn English in school, like forei

In my case, you’ve got it backwards. I’m less threatened by an educated black person (male or female) than an uneducated one because educated people tend to be more open-minded. Also, they are taught to think for themselves, not just accept urban myths and other untruths that uneducated people are more likely to accept without question. An educated person has more opportunities for a better life. I’m more afraid of uneducated black men who are angry, but feel impotent to change their situation, guys who use violence to express their discontent. Just Curious

By your simple explanation, Christians should have stoned Jimmy Swaggert, Jim Bakker and other evangelists who committed adultery. Adultery is not only a moral sin, it is prohibited in the 10 commandments. It is hypocritical to forgive your own so easily and condemn others who do transgress according to biblical literalism. Just Curious

Science and religion are not incompatible. I have faith in God, but faith does not mean ignoring scientific facts. God gave us minds to understand the world He created to make it better. That’s why we have eradicated polio and other diseases with scientific research. The bible condones slavery. Do you believe that’s OK? There are specific laws on how to treat slaves, but it doesn’t condemn slavery. the bible also clearly states that adulterer’s should be stoned to death. Did you or your leaders demand that Jimmy Swaggert, Jim Bakker and other adulterous Evangelical leaders be killed that way? If not, you are not living by a literal interpretation of the bible. There is a big difference between accepting the bible as Absolute Truth versus Literal Truth. Can you or your

The hole in the sheet thing is a myth. Orthodox Jews are especially modest in their dress and consider sex a very private and holy matter, not something to discuss in public, but they don’t use a sheet with a hole. I imagine there are a fair number of very modest couples of all religions that have sex in the dark UNDER a sheet and don’t see their spouses genitals, though. Just Curious

Many Catholics consider abortion murder because they believe the soul is born at the time of conception. Some protestants feel the same. Others don’t. Jews don’t consider abortion murder because we believe that the soul isn’t created till the baby takes its first breath outside the womb. MOst of us Jews take abortion very seriously. It’s never an easy choice, but it’s not considered a sin. Why? Remember in Genesis when God created ADam. First, he took a lump of earth and created this inanimate thing, Adam. It wasn’t until God breathed into Adam, that Adam came alive and had a spirit. In Hebrew, the word “ruach” means 3 things: spirit/breath/wind. Consequently, we equate human spirit with the first breath a baby takes. Just Curious

Thanks. I read Anne Rice’s book “Feast of All Saints” and saw the movie as well about Quadroon balls in New Orleans. Very interesting to learn about the well educated, middle class free people of color that thrived before slavery was abolished. I was shocked to learn that some of these “priveleged” women had slaves of their own. How could they justify that? I recently heard the term yellow used in the musical, “the Color Purple” by the town gossips. Just Curious

I’ve seen a few black Jews here in St. Louis, some are Ethiopian immigrants. My answer to you: Catholic missionaries have actively targeted blacks, among others, around the world to convert. Evangelicals seem bent on converting everyone. As I understand it, some of these conversions require only that the prospect say,”I accept Jesus Christ as my Savior” and possibly participate in a baptism. They believe that faith is more important than works. Jews do not proselytize and converting to Judaism is not nearly so simple. Prospective converts have to take classes to learn Jewish law and customs. They have to demonstrate a desire to live Jewishly. Faith is not enough. Jews are judged by their actions. Not many people of any race are willing to go through the grueling orde

Some women may have a preference, but since you can’t change yourself, why worry? I’ve only seen 2 that were so large (thick and long) that it hurt too much to repeat ever again. As a sexually active middle age woman, I’ve had more than my share of “you know whats”. The man attached to it is most important. If he is a kind, considerate guy who takes time with foreplay and is a good guy outside of the bedroom, that’s what counts most. Sex begins in the mind. Concentrate on becoming a good lover, not just in terms of technique, but in wanting to please your partner, asking her what she likes. Just Curious

Alcoholics often use alcohol to relieve depression. The problem is they get addicted to alcohol and alcohol is a depressant. Going to AA meetings will help you with the alcoholism. If you still feel depressed after being sober 2-3 months, you’ll need professional help (psychiatric or medical) to deal separately with the depression. Been there, done that. Just Curious

tens of millions suffer from depression in the U.S. alone. I believe Prozac is one of the most common prescribed drugs in this country. You are definitely not alone, even though it feels like it. I’ve been on medication for depression for decades. It’s not an exact science. There’s been a lot of trial and error in finding the best drug(s) that work without causing side effects that I can’t tolerate. It’s frustrating and scary, but it’s worth it when you find the right combination of meds. If you can’t afford certain meds, some drug companies have special programs for low income patients. YOu need to get professional help. I have a long history of depression and the right medications help a lot. I am low income, but found a clinic that takes poor people. Do whatever it takes to get help. If you’ve been hiding this from your parent(s), you need to tell them and ask for help. If they don’t agree, go to a school counselor. This is not going to go away by itself. It’ll get worse if you don’t act. Is there any alcoholism in your family? If so, Al-Ateen, a free support group could help a lot. Just Curious

Since you can’t change it, relax and concentrate on becoming a good lover and boyfriend, i.e, being unselfish, fun, thoughtful and kind. Sex starts outside the bedroom. I taught this to my last boyfriend and it worked! Concentrate on pleasing your woman inside and outside of the bedroom. That’s what counts. Just Curious

I enjoy sex a lot, but I’ve met 2 men whose cocks were so think it made sex painful in spite of lots of foreplay and lubrication. Too much of a good thing exists for women. Just Curious
