I'm sorry but some hairstyles look ridiculous on some people, and locs look about as silly on white people as blond hair and blue contacts look on black people. Same with braids and cornrows--white folks need to leave the braids, twists and locs to black folks. In addition, I get sick and tired of white people getting credit for something that is traditionally African (remember Bo Derek's '10' look?) This chick was running around sporting braids at a time when black women were being fired from their jobs for wearing 'natural' hair. So no, I do not find white folks sporting African styles to be cute, nor will I apologize for feeling that way.

I'm in the insurance industry and have been so for about eight years. I cannot tell you how many times I've had to advise supervisors, etc. that while they can certainly tell me what needs to be done, they cannot tell me HOW to do the job. I've actually had people stand directly over me while I work, and I had to ask them to please not stand over/near me while I'm working; that when the project is complete, I'll advise them. I even had one manager tell me that my files were turned the 'wrong' way, because she had to turn a certain way to look for something. I advised her that I set up my files for my convenience...not hers.

They claim to 'fear' us, Darryl, but what they really fear are educated, ambitious Blacks who are successful, or who have the potential to be successful. These are the Blacks who can and do compete with them. Competition from qualified Blacks scares Whites because they're forced to share a huge slice the pie we call The American Dream. As for some Blacks, many have been pacified by a few pieces of designer clothing, a car, house and checking account, into thinking that racism no longer exists, which is pretty pathetic to me.
