What I have found is succesSful is to assume they are God's messenger. Then ask them to prove it to you. A burning bush or some wine from the sink would be good. If their heads are being consumed by flames that manage to not singe a single hair, they're definitely with God. Pay close attention. Otherwise, thank them for their interest and politely escort them off your property. Or have pamphlets printed out, titled 'Wouldn't it be better if there was no hell?', 'Why Jesus wants you to be an atheist', 'God won't save your soul, but man gave you alcohol to disinfect it', or 'Jesus loves you, but even he likes to sleep late on saturdays.' You can come up with logical arguments and give them a taste of their own medicine, or just have the covers done and assume they'll take the hint.

Well, A: if a woman knows a man is gay, then she probably knows him, and he probably knows her well enough to know what would be offensive. B: the sexual motive/threat isn't present with a gay man, so a gay friend might be able to be less offensive and more flirtatious. I've found vowing celibacy works in much the same way.

Well, I'm a foriegner in Asia, if that's what you mean. The exotic and mysterious aspects are probably the ones that are most alluring to American men. By the way, let me reverse the question. How does a non-asian man attract an Asian woman? What cultural hurdles are there, what are some ways to be culturally sensitive?

Like many people, I find tatoos and piercings attractive. However, naturally aquired scars, in my opinion, are more attractive, as there's ussually a story/experience that created those scars, not a choice or a design you got to choose. No scar is more beautiful to me than stratch marks from creating a life. Those are battle scars, marks of distinction, proving that you are a warrior and have gone through something incredible to bring somebody into the world. Wear them with pride. I don't think I'm alone in this.

I noticed an interesting response from a parent, that I've heard before myself. ie: 'as long as you're in my house, you will do as I say.' I'm a parent as well, and I'd like to raise a point. That child had no choice in the matter. He did not say, 'please knock mom up in the backseat of grandad's chevy on prom night so that I can be stuck in an unhappy marraige as the cause of all of your marital acrimony for the next 18 years.' You made the decision to have children. That child is in the process of growing up. You got to dress your kid however you wanted up till now. Now, part of that decision to have a child is that he will make his own decisions, like what to wear. It's his turn, his chance to dress himself. He needs to learn to do that well before his 18th birthday. Just my opinion.

It's been said here elsewhere, don't worry about the normal people trying to look wierd, (stand out,) worry about the wierd people trying to look normal. There is a tatoo on my right wrist that is my daughter's astrology symbol, combined with mine and her mother's. On my arm is a pair of celtic dogs, that symbolize my heritage, and are said to be protective, to keep ill-willed spirits from entering. My nipple is pierced because it looks good pierced, and my tounge is pierced because.... well.... if you don't know what you're doing, a tounge ring won't help, but if you do your phone never stops ringing, if you catch my drift.... I've talked to several elderly individuals with tatoos, and even faded and wrinkled, the stories/symbolism behind them are incredible. Like an old church that has weathered several storms, or the ruins of an ancient city, old tatoos are faded symbols, with more history and meaning than ever. And kudo's to those who refuse to work for the judgemental. They don't deserve the intelligence and creativity that we can bring to their companies. To paraphrase: 'Perhaps someday a man will be judged by the content of his character, and not the color, or colors, of his skin.'

My own grandfather was unnattached and insulting towards my mother, and treated us children with the same conditional acceptance. Love was out of the question. I choose to spend as little time as possible with him. That's not selfishness, it's self interest. I have a daughter who doesn't need to see me or her grandmother berated. I don't expose her to it. In my own relations with my mother and my daughter, I cultivate unconditional love, acceptance of acceptable behavior, and condemnation of innapropriate behavior without condemning the person. The older generation could learn from its progeny as much as we can learn from them.

An attractive woman is attractive regardless. I've met 40 yerar olds with bodies thier teenaged progeny envy, and teenagers with charm, wit, and world traveling experience in spades. Personally, I find most women beautiful regardless of age, shape or size. As long as they can hold up thier end of a conversation, which is rare at any age.

I am an omnitheist. Meaning I believe in everything. Why not, right? In my mind, many denominations spend far to much time pointing out inconsistencies in other denominations, and no where near enough time focusing on thier own. You may want to look into the unitarian churches, they are non denominational, and even include other ideas, pagan, eastern, and philosophical.

Both sides... I have a full time professional job plus part time schooling. I go to classes before, during or after work, and draw attention because my shirts are freshly pressed, my pants have a neat crease, my shoes are polished, and my accessories are tasteful and professional. Underneath this, however, I'm tatoo'd and pierced. I didn't always look conservative, a year ago, I had dreadlocks past my belt line. Now, you can dress however you choose, and dressing well might make a good impression on your teachers and fellow students, but I've found that showing up, staying focused, and answering pertinent questions is a much more effective imprint. However, when I was scrubbed out, if I drifted off, it was assumed I was on something, whereas now, I'm a busy tired professional trying his best to find the energy. Oh well. In my opinion, when you are a professional and they are paying you, they can put a dress code in effect. If you're paying for classes, go scrubby, by all means, while you still have the chance.

I'm a white male but I have lived in projects, and gone to majority black schools. I have been the victim of reverse racism, and while I don't condone thier actions, I can understand the reaction. When an unarmed black man is shot 40 something times, yet the white man who massacres a MacDonald's is still getting attempts to rationalize from the police, it's difficult to see it as anything other than racism. That, in fact, is exactly what it is. When I was jumped after Rodney King's famous encounter with the LAPD, I was also angry and resentful. Later, I understand the powerlesness and victimization. They weren't lashing out against me, they were lashing out at a system that will put a black man in jail for life over a $200 robbery, but lets Ken Lay off with his golden parachute to fall back on. Think about it, and maybe you'll start throwing fits, too.

He may not be ready for relationships in general, or he may not be ready for one with you. Look at the bright side, if he refuses to commit, maybe commitment means something to him. Many men I know have no problem commiting, and no problem cheating, and no problem lying to you and breaking your heart. That's where most of the women on here and in general seem to get men wrong. The man who is afraid of commitment is probably the honest man who waits before making a decision that he, unlike the men who commit easily, plans to uphold. The bottom line is, if you can't see yourself with anyone else, fight for him and give him the chance. If you can, then be glad he doesn't want commitment, and show him the honesty he would show you. Perhaps when introduced to another suitor, he'll realize that commitment is good.
