As Cal said, 'the Katrina fiasco was self-inflicted.' These ppl had been flooded out in the past and yet they continue to build below sea level. I don't feel sorry for them. Nor do I feel sorry for the idiots in Calif that cry because an earthquake destroyed their houses, etc. An earthquake in California? What are the chances? I must also mention the ppl who build their houses on stilts on a hill in Calif, and then when it rains their house slides away. Is there no limit to human stupidity?

As a rule, no, we are not all about sex. Yeah, we like sex, but usually it's about the emotional aspect. This is one of the reasons homosexuality makes more sense to me than straight sex. Women know what women like and men know what men like (for the most part). These women shouldn't be bothering your wife at all. Haven't these women heard about sexual harrassment?

no more so than you turning lesbian. He's probably bi-sexual rather than gay. If he was all gay, he wouldn't be giving you the time of day. Some groups claim they can make you straight, but they're religious and evidently the ppl are in conflict about their being gay and the fact that their religion tells them it's wrong.

I came out after moving to Texas, and found out that the butch/fem thing isn't that prevalent in the rest of the country. Where I was, you had to be either butch or fem. No middle of the road. I would wear jeans and mannish shirt, boots, make-up and jewelry, and the butchier women would ask me if I was fem or butch. I'd answer, 'I'm me.' I've never felt that comfortable in dresses, and I prefer comfortable shoes. And as for bras, the Goddess didn't skimp in this area, so I have to wear one. I don't wear make-up anymore, but still love my jewelry. I was trying to find my style back then and was looking at the community to see what worked. I don't follow the crowd anymore. I wear what I want.

I heard when I was growing up that ppl who make fun of others do it because they have no or low self esteem and it makes them feel superior. I didn't believe it then, because I thought I liked myself. I later found out that I had no self esteem and when I learned to love myself, I stopped making fun of others. That said, we medical ppl have a sick sense of humor and one could say we're making fun of ppl. Yeah, sometimes, but mostly we're blowing off our frustrations for a thankless job.

I can tell you how ppl look at me. They look at me like they've never seen an obese person before and like I'm a freak. I had some skinny chick in the store say to her boyfriend, 'I thought I was fat!' when she saw me. I say to that, what goes around comes around, and I hope she remembers that someday when she's gained a few excess pounds. I guess in her mind, it's okay to say rude things to obese ppl, but I wouldn't be allowed to call her the 'N' word.

DNA and your metabolism has a lot to do with it. I've seen skinny ppl eat more in one meal than I could in a day, and because of their metabolism, they burn it off almost as fast as they can swallow. I'm 1/2 German and Germans are robust ppl. My maternal aunts were all big women, so I didn't have a chance from square one. I am addicted to food, so there is a definite behavior factor. Please don't fall victim to the yo yo diet syndrome. I weighed 170 in high school and for my height and build that would be an ideal weight for now, but because I believed society's B.S. about skinny v fat women, I have lost and gained numerous times and am now unhealthy.

After reading the other replies I'd like to point out that like every other government program there are those ppl who try to screw the gov't and those who have a legit complaint. Disability doesn't pay that much so it's not like he's found the mother lode. I hope the gov't is working with him to retrain him so he won't be a burden. Obesity is a deadly disease. It's not because we don't know how to control ourselves. Please look it up if you don't know that much about it. I have both obese and non obese ppl in my family, so it's not completely a question of behavior.

A little levity... I saw a cartoon of a nude couple answering the door and Jehovah Witnesses running away, and the woman asked, Why didn't we think of this before?' I think it would work quite well.

If you find this station so offensive, find another station. DUH! There's a nightly program for black people on NPR, so it's not just for white people.

I don't think a lot of ppl pratice what they preach. Muslims, Jews, and Christians all are told not to kill, but look at Israel and Palistine. Ireland-Catholics and Protestants. I'm sure there are other examples. Christians also are not supposed to judge others, but there's a whole lot of that going around lately.

I don't know a whole lot about the Christian Scientists, but I don't think they advocate it. You might look them up on the internet.

Cons:the first one I think of is all the cigarette smoke...not healthy. the 2nd one I think of is drunks, beligerant or not. I don't think drunks are funny. Nothing funny about someone puking on themselves, not being able to walk, trying to drive and possibly killing someone, and the next morning they can't remember anything. This is fun? I've heard of bartenders being held responsible for not cutting someone off when they are extremely inebriated and hurting or killing someone behind the wheel. Pros:can't think of any.

I saw a news show about strippers and most of them said they do it only because the money is good, and they have kids to raise. I think the reason they do drugs is to numb themselves from the humiliation of having men act disgusting around them.
