I admit it, I'm in love with Chinese food! Most of the black folk I know like it, and plenty of whites do, too. It's a convineence food that's highly appealing but widely available in every ghetto and suburb.

I have to agree. There are a lot of brothas who don't have a dating preference but really can't stand the headstrong black women who don't look like a video girl or some whore. I know many brothas in college who treat white women like queens.

What do you think we are, animals? There are no differences between blacks and whites besides the obvious and genetics. You don't see me ask you why whites are so pale... Is it non-contagious leprosy?

Many blacks don't view themselves as all-American. All-American Implies the suburban, lily-white middle-class, eating apple pie at a baseball game. From an outsider, It may seem that blacks have completely blended in with American culture, but we're the only race that actually tried to separate ourselves from mainstream culture In an effort to 'be black' or 'keep it real,' some blacks prefer the white way of life by pretending we're all the same, as If we're all gray. Another thing, over the course of several hundred years, we have lost most of the cultural aspects of our African roots. Most blacks I know can't tell you one thing about Africa besides what any non-African knows already. How can you draw from ancient heritage you don't know anything about? In America, there is definitely a black identity; we call it black pride, pride in being African American, but it doesn't include a heritage we dont know of - the 'African portion' of our name.

I agree. The same administration that overlook illegal spanish immigrants is the same one giving them rights. I think that english should be the predominant language, but in every election, Bush knows that hispanics vote republican religiously like blacks do democratically. By making more accomidations for a selective language, its favored in the long run. (Why not any asian languages, french, italian, russian, etc.?) Its all politics

In my opinion, most Asian females are beautiful. As opposed to other races, including my own, aesthetic beauty is much more rampant in Asian women. They don't have acne and have more self-respect (more conservative in dress), and many are educated. The whole exotic factor doesn't hurt, either.

in reply to: Preferential attraction among gays? #30462

No, I don't think so. I read somewhere that out of all gay men of different races, black men tend to either prefer other races of men as opposed to your own or was indiscriminate of other races as potential mates. I personally am the exception and prefer black men over white and other races and I am black also. I wasn't exposed to whites until college, so that's a major factor. I think it's all about exposure, confidence, experience, comfort, and preconceived notions about other groups (in this case, your own race)that decides who is suitable or preferred by your tastes.

Honestly, its normal to have feelings from time to time for the same sex, but it may be because you view anything sexual while aroused as desirable. You might even discover later on that you have an attraction towards the male sex or find out later you dont have those 'feelings' anymore. Relax, it's a normal part of growing up. One of the things about life is discovering yourself. The only true indicator of your sexuality is time and your honest feelings about the male body.

Although I wasn't adopted, I was in foster care. When I was asked to write a family paper about my family, it was assumed that I lived with my parents, and that I was dependent upon them, ass with most college students. Whenever I told anybody that I was in foster care, either people instantly felt sorry for me and treated me like a lost puppy. One person even told me 'If I were you, I wouldn't say that around some of there rich people on campus.' I don't know why is it shameful on your part, but I can see it as concievably shameful towards the parent who put you up for adoption. There is a well known news story about a custody battle out right now (as of January 2005)

I'm surprised Y? even allowed your obviously racist bigoted self to even post such a reply. How in the world can you call somebody racist with such a statement? FIRST OF ALL, most of the blacks i know sit around all day collecting welfare and making children, and I'm black. I dont know where you are from, but you obviously live in the same neighborhoods or associate with such lowlife whites who give you that impression of that poor lazy black life you made up. While there are many blacks on welfare, there are MANY MORE whites doing the same thing you condemn.

Have you heard the saying, 'you can take one out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of them?' This is a common saying among black folk, meaning that old habits die hard. Although this behavior of 'bringing the ghetto' with them is annoying to the neighbors, you got to understand that as with anything, one cannot instantly drop one's way of life because some neighbors desire it. How would you like it If you moved to a Swedish community and they posted a question about why you brought our annoying American habits with you? Why can't you just instantly conform with the Swedish culture entirely? Things take time, and old habits die hard.

On most college campuses there is a women's center that handles such cases with literature on help. They have access to the police and emergency help (well at least on my campus). If not, contact the police and they could possibly jail him and hold him in custody until the matter is processed. CALL THE POLICE and maybe visit a battered women's clinic or reside at a friend's house for a while until he is in jail! open and shut case.

I am a first generation college student and my experience was pretty rough and awkward so far, although im only a sophmore. When i first arrived at my school (90% white) i was in a sort of a culture shock and had a terrible time adjusting to the rock and roll noise and ignorant classmates who virtually never spoken to a black person before. As for my family, my sisters never completed school and i grew up dirt poor. They complain that i dont come see them of the family often or im trying to be white because i tell them i have to study. Many kids can afford so much like computers and help, but i have trouble completing projects because i cant afford the materials. As i could go on and on, this is the bulk of my expeirnces so far.

I think you are mistaken about black skinheads. The skinhead phenomenon is a subculture in itself, not characterized by any person with a bald head. Many black men have bald heads because bald heads look better on black men. Every person with a bald head isn't a skinhead.

I like cats and am a black male. I like other animals, too. Many people in the South have reservations about cats, especially some black folk I know.
