I would say the most likely reason people assume that you're sexually active is because for the most part, teens are. Another factor might be your looks. If you're attractive, most people will assume you're sexually active.

Well, Tourette's isn't about saying "dirty" words, it's about saying ones that are inappropriate to the situation. The stereotypical Tourette's sufferer will often shout out obscenities to no one in particular, saying F this and F that. An actual Tourette's sufferer is more likely to have a "favorite" saying, as well as just randomly blurt out things that may not be obscene, but are impolite or inappropriate given the setting or context in which they are said.

in reply to: Homeless are people, too #22183
I as well have been homeless by choice for about a year. While I met many wonderful street people, the fact is that most of them ARE there by choice. That choice being not to better themselves. It's what you define as a choice that makes it or breaks it for me. I met people that had run on some hard luck and gotten evicted, or were kicked out of their house by parents/roommates, and didn't have any money to afford a new pad. Most of THESE people almost immediately became "unhomeless" again, as they could and were willing to work a job and not spend their earnings on drugs or booze. I met people that had run away from home for stupid, stupid reason. Almost every one of them was a 14 or 15-year-old girl that was using their homelessness as an escape from responsibility. There were a fe

in reply to: Why does lower class persist w/ bad behaviors? #22182
I'd say it's probably because a lot less is expected of them. For example, if I wasn't pressured as a child to do well in school, I would have dropped out before I even made it to Secondary. Another part of it is that some lower-class people lose all hope of ever being anything but, and resort to narcotics, alcohol abuse, etc. to feel better about their meager lot in life. Casual marriage/divorce, from what I've seen, is almost exclusively an upper class establishment, so I'm not sure it belongs on a list of lower class behaviours.

It's just not that high on a priority list. If it's not meant to look nice, I'm not going to put that extra effort into making it look nice.

No, I'd say it's more likely they complain to their parents to hear them say "oh, that's awful!" or something similar so they can feel more justified about what they think their spouse is doing wrong.

in reply to: Do old people like getting help from others? #22179
I think it's a bit of both in most cases. For example, I live with my 62-year-old grandmother and her 79-year-old boyfriend. While I do the heavy lifting around the house, my grandmother actually REFUSES to let me employ the feather-duster, so to speak. Her boyfriend is still convinced he can do the things he did when he was a lumberjack in the bygone era of the 1930s and 40s, despite the fact that he's a diabetic with a limp and a heart condition who gets tired walking from room to room. Lately he's been getting worse, though, and seems content to watch and tell me what I'm doing wrong all the time when I'm working around the property.

Yes, this is a problem both you and I face, as well as countless others. Not all seniors are like this. Many are polite and may cast a glance now and then if they find you interesting to look at, much like younger folks. But that said, the elderly are just like every other group: A couple of winners, and a whole lot of losers.

Because I graduated high school when I was 17, I was one of the youngest people in my freshman year. I hung out with students of all ages, from 17-year-olds to people in their late 20s. I never experienced any sort of "taboo" at all.

I have been accused of being a mumbler since my late teens. I don't know why to this day. However, as an interesting side note, only those over the age of 40 claim to not understand what I'm saying.

in reply to: Getting older people off the roads #22175
I live with two elderly folks. My grandmother is 62 and her boyfriend is 79. While my grandmother is a decent driver, her boyfriend is absolutely terrible. He speeds, flips the bird and goes on a tirade if he's cut off on the highway, and just generally does the opposite of what's appropriate in a given situation. He's had one big stroke and several ministrokes, as well as Angina (A heart condition), and his reflexes are not what they used to be. He is a danger to everybody on the road, and he knows it. But he still feels it's his right to be on the road.

in reply to: Teens obsessed with dating #22174
I was like you about 7 or 8 years ago. I had no interest in the usual person A is dating person B gossip, and to this day I've always found it a boring topic. However, I believe it's a way of feeling more "adult", which is something most kids crave at your age and even younger. It's not bad or wrong, it's just part of getting older. You're in for a lot worse in your later teen years, so enjoy this relatively innocuous "who likes whom" stuff while you still can.

I slept with my grandmother until I was 12. It was a comfort thing for me. I don't think it's entirely UNhealthy, but if your son is uncomfortable with it and it continues, that's when there might be a problem.

Unsurprisingly, yes. While women are slowly overcoming this, it's still a major issue for feminists, which sadly isn't being tackled with the same fervor that the ongoing "woman/wymmin/womyn/wimmin" battle is.
