Be who you are. Of course, you may be trying to find out who that is. It's OK. When you are an adult let your children explore who they are as long as they stay out of danger. And don't curse at them.

They are on white males, too! At least in my parts. These weird little clothing trends come and go. Males dressing in pink is still current here, but baby blue is apparently passe. Pants that ride somewhere just above the knees seems to be a trend that is still hanging on. If you've ever seen a kid trying to run in these it's funnier than Charlie Chaplains walk! Just enjoy the irony that in their quest to be different so many young folks end up looking the same.

For a great many people religion is necessary. It can be comforting to feel that there is someone more powerful than ourselves watching over us. Ask any child. Your question, however, seems to really be: is religious plurality really (not 'necessary') but inevitable? And the answer is yes. Religion is a cultural expression and reflects the values and experiences of a people. The attainment of nowhere-ness or nothing-ness prevalent in eastern religions might be seen as a reaction against the community focus (as opposed to individual focus) of many eastern cultures. In the west our heaven is usually perceived as well- populated. The trick to ending religious bickering is to be secure enough in our own beliefs that we don't feel the need to condemn other's beliefs as a means to justify our own.

When it is convenient I do point out people by race. Just do it non-chalantly, none but the hyper-sensitive should mind, and in my experience they are most often white folks.

I'm sure they just feel they are being clever or funny. Let's face it, large families are unusual these days, and you do stand out! While I'm not in the habit of commenting, I do wonder how you manage. One child has been a job for me. As far as 'undesirable 'other' groups' I think you might be reading way too much into it. As a fat guy with a name that is percieved as feminine, I just disarm people by making jokes about it first. Then we both feel better. You could make jokes about 'it takes a village' or being assigned your own zip code. Believe me, you'd be happier.

I feel for you. I can't blame pregnancy, but I'm unhappy with my body, too. Childbirth can often alter your body for good. That doesn't mean you can't be healthy and in shape. I knew a woman whose butt got huge with childbirth. Her eventual reaction was to, literally, work her butt off. Maybe your hips have gotten too wide for your comfort or you've added a shoe size. I'm trying to get my will together to put my body back in shape and I think fore any of s the key here is to build a little self-esteem. I know that in situations where I feel competent and confident I never think about what my body looks like. Good luck!

As a musician I believe you should open your ears to all kinds of music. There is something of value in almost any genre, with the possible exception of modern country music. The blending of styles that is common in much current 'rock' music is often great. This blending can also be found in jazz, alternative country, and classical (through The Kronos Quartet, Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer to name a few). These older folks who would be critical of you are strange. I recommend that you don't waste time arguing with them, but have a little pity for them. You've transcended a barrier. They, apparently, have ceased to grow.

I'd never thought of that. But I think maybe you're going a little overboard. Black and white are considered representations of good and evil among all sorts of different people. Although, if we think of color as generally a good thing black (all color) should be better than white (the complete absence of color.) Racially, I don't think you should identify with this really. I think I'm pretty safe in guessing you are no more truly black in skin tone than I am white. Where it counts, genetically, we are all but indistinguishable.
