It is usually because there was a better qualified 'white' person, but because of the need to be politically correct, it will go to someone not as deserving. Blacks and whites have different work ethics, educational backgrounds and different skills when dealing with cultures different from themselves.

I am not a professional, just someone who has always been accused of having too much going on at any one time. What has worked for me is a pursuit of change until I found what really engaged me relative to work, friends, etc. No more making what doesn't work fit into my life. Prior to this change, I found I didn't want to focus on what was in front of me, because it wasn't right for me. It is a simple suggestion to what seems to be a more frequently diagnosed syndrome these days.

I never viewed it as getting skin cancer. I am of Italian descent and really enjoyed spending time with friends at beach resorts, clubs and house pools having drinks, laughing and relaxing. Yeah, my skin got darker, but my bone structure and secondary characteristics like hair texture never changed. I don't have cancer, but I do have fond memories of parties during the summertime, which I will never forget- even some great pictures. I don't believe whites getting sun has much to do with wanting to be a different race. Plus, it's a good source of Vitamin D.

It is very simple. Cars represent freedom to teens. It is a way to get away from the confines of their parents.

After having witnessed Sept. 11, 2001, with my own eyes, I feel it is everything you mentioned. Prior to '911,' I considered myself a liberal Democrat, but after the last three months, I am more of a 'hawkish' political conservative, viewing America's protection of its citizens and way of life as something to defend to the death. If it has come to a choice between the United States and them, I am on the side of the United States. I can't really explain to you what it has been like to be alive and see so many people die just because they were Americans.

America is angry. Not all Americans are alike. You met some angry, ignorant people. Sorry, but times are different. Nerves are more on the surface, inhibiting the editing of 'thought-to-mouth' impulses.

It is the same energy used by those responsible for the Sept. 11 massacre, but from another perspective. All action has a reaction. Now do you see?

I live in New York and have the daily experience of being around a high school when it releases its students from classes. Without a doubt, it is one of the most depressing sights. All I see are young people who are more concerned with speaking 'McDonald-ese' and having the latest rap line than respect for the people around them. Disrespect and vulgar behavior is the norm from this group (I am sure there are those who are not so interested in being with the 'in' crowd.) I try to soften my perception with the fact that they are young and the possibility that I participated in my own version of this at that age. But from my current perspective, age discrimination is valid, especially when the group involved fails to realize they are a part of a civilized culture that needs to accommodate all types, not just their own. I believe it is not the young people's fault, because they don't know any better. It is their parents who should be educated in the rearing of children prior to being allowed to reproduce.

I believe you will see a huge division in what one popular prophet said and how closely his modern devotees adhere to his teachings. If you can, assume this perspective: The Christ figure was, for his day, an anarchist. He drew attention to the 'God-lessness' of the religious power structure at that time. You will witness the same dynamics now as then. Those who have the 'hand-up' on God's thoughts will define the situation to keep themselves and their lifestyles the way they are - not necessarily they way they should be. Drop bread, not bombs: too spiritual a thought for the current earth plane. This does not mean your answer is not a higher choice. Maybe your voice should reach more ears. And don’t forget that this is just my humble response to your question.

I gather my opinions from what I see, read and hear. I see quite a few blacks, have read quite a bit of black literature (fiction/non-fiction) and hear your culture through the contributions of your artists. What more do I need to perceive? Is there anything? I think you are a group of citizens who are as diverse as whites, but not as large. Money and education make a difference in this country, and both seem to be lacking in the black community. Some nice people, some mean. Some happy, some sad, etc.

Isn't it sad, Anders? Having my heritage in Western Europe, I don't understand why in this country we decided to work for the 'man' over enjoying our God-given right to a garden of Eden. Oh wait, now I remember: Money has replaced God, and the 'man' turned the garden of Eden into a retail outlet with a video feed. Long live the civilization that treats all its people well.

I think you esteem the white world too much. I couldn't care less who dates whom. I actually have a lot of respect for interracial couples because it is not easy on them. I actually find your question to reflect that you are quite a racist, meaning you have these beliefs you level across the entire white race that don't exist. As long as the two people like each other and they have accepting and supportive families/friends, what would it matter to an outsider? I speculate as to what your real intended question/perception is. I mean, do you really care what I think of whom you are dating?

I would grab them and hold them very dear to my heart. Race and ethnicity would fly out the window.

To this white person, some blacks appear unsophisticated, uneducated and generally uncivilized by my standards. But please realize, what I consider sophisticated, educated and civilized might not be what you as a black person might. I live in New York and find that some of the time, blacks want me to be afraid. They use loud, aggressive speech with vulgarity to hold simple conversations. They try to obscure their identity using clothing articles such as bandanas and scarves. They show no courtesy when meeting face to face on the street. And some of the time, I am confronted by hostile blacks who I am sure are trying to intimidate me. I respond in a like manner, but I am sure some white people would not. I think some blacks like this relationship. I believe it makes them feel they have power in a society in which they don't.
