SDMemberLets see… Africans selling eachother into slavery over in Africa. Europeans having this little practice called indentured servitude. Asian countries selling children for sex. What country or culture has noe been guilty of enslaving and exploiting its citizens or the citizens of other countries? I’d say the 40 acres and a mule have been long repaid by the hard working Americans who are supporting many of these individuals who have enjoyed multi-generations of welfare benefits that people like me have worked hard to provide for them.

SDMemberAre you serious? Let’s put the legal and ethical issues aside for a moment. Why would any man who is not developmentally disabled want to date a woman who is? Do you have issues meeting women your age who are not disabled? I think this question is best answered by further self-introspection and guidance by a more qualified expert thatn one you would find on this site. People who seek other people who have some type of disadvantage (financial, emotional, mental, health, etc) often have unresolved issues. Relationships are partnerships. When one person has a significant advantage (in this case, intellectual) over the other, it is extremely unhealthy and dysfunctional.

SDMemberHave you SEEN the way foreigners act here in America while on vacation? It’s embarassing too. People coming to our beaches without shaving ANYTHING – who wants to see that? They don’t tip the men and women who serve them. They often have horrible B.O. because in their countries, they often don’t bathe daily. I am very pround to be an American citizen. These countries often forget that without our military and financial aid, they’d be up a creek. If they don’t like it here, let ’em stay home.

SDMemberAnd please let me add that no Roman Catholic or Anglican church will allow an open casket in the church. Other Christian denominations may allow this, but Catholics do not. You sound like you need to become a bit more educated about these things or speak with the parish priest before you make assumptions about what is and is not permitted. Anyone who told you that you would not be permitted to pray for your own mother at her funeral is horribly misinformed. That is simply ridiculous. God hears our prayers whenever and wherever we pray.

SDMemberYou chose to become a Jew. You were not born as a Jew. Your mother’s funeral is not about you. It is about her and respecting her last wishes. As many “problems” as you may have with her funeral arrangements, did it ever dawn on you that she may have had “problems” with your conversion to Judaism? Why wouldn’t you be permitted to pray for your own mother? Did it ever occur to you that you dishonored your Christian faith and family by converting to Judaism? Stop using your faith as an excuse to dishonor your own mother – which is against one of the Ten Commandments located in the OLD Testament.

SDMemberIn the Bible, Jesus speaks to his Disciples about the Holy Sprit. The passage can be found in John 16 versus 5 through 10. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are part of the Trinity, which can be a challenging concept theologically! The Holy Spirit is not a human soul. The Holy Spirit is often referred to as “The Comforter.” Although they seem to be separate entities, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one entity with three parts – kind of like a three-leaf clover. Basically, I look at the Holy Spirit as the one who took over after Jesus ascended to heaven to comfort and protect us until He returns again. Hope that helps.

SDMemberThe whole “make up for racism” thing is getting pretty old. Do we go back 500 years and apologize for not being able to save folks from syphillis because we didn’t have penicillin? Lest we forget, many slaves were sold into slavery by other Africans from warring tribes – but you won’t see that mentioned in history textbooks. Slavery was a result of us not knowing any better. We should have, but we didn’t. But it is 2008, and my peers of all races have had the same opportunities I have had. What we do with those opportunities is an individual choice. I am against any system that promotes the concept that one race or sex should have an employment, education or other advantage over another race. Hire based on merit, experience and ability alone. The fact of the matter is that Affirmat

SDMemberI don’t think they do other than knowing that it’s not so simple for one of the parties to bail out without some serious financial and legal hassles. It’s kind of like making a cake. It’s the ingredients, not the oven, that make the cake good. It’s the people, not the marriage ceremony or license, that make the marriage.

SDMemberI don’t know about the Southern men you’ve encountered, but as a GRIT -Girl Raised In The South, I can promise you that no true Southern gentleman would ever wear a ball cap in a restaurant. Etiquette didn’t change, some men just prefer to ignore it.

SDMemberI sometimes get irritated if I’m speaking to someone and they start speaking to someone else in their own language while I’m standing there. I think it’s rude. While I understand that there has never been a national language established in the United States, the majority of people (including those whose primary language is not English) would say that it is English. I think if you’re going to come to this country and enjoy everything that it has to offer and immerse yourself in the culture, then you should at least learn basic English.

SDMemberWhat a load of crap. The problem with kids either in inner-city or suburban schools is that they have been raised by over-permissive parents who have allowed them to behave that way. Too bad if they’re pissed off. They will have people telling them what to do, when to do it and how to do it their entire lives. They can either do it by earning a paycheck and working hard, or they can have a correctional officer tell them what, where and when to do things without the benefit of pay. Parents need to stop expecting the schools to raise their children and start parenting them by setting expectations, boundaries and realizing that sometimes being a parent means you aren’t popular.

SDMemberHere’s what I believe. God made us in His image to love and serve Him. He gave us free will and choice to pursue Him or to pursue worldly gains. God wants us to choose Him, but does not force Himself on us. To me, hell is the absence of God, not necessarily a specific place.

SDMemberI think that men were raised to think bodily functions were kind of funny and women were raised to think of bodily functions as something to hurry up and get through. Forgive the stereotype, but most men find farting pretty hilarious, while most women would rather set their hair on fire than fart in front of someone. So I guess for men, spending quality time pooping on the toilet with their favorite magazine is no big deal. I’m sure they wonder why we spend so much time putting on makeup and doing our hair.
