Rich is easy to identify. If you work in a service industry where tipping is customary, it would be foolish to cater strongly to the shabbily dressed while the woman with the fur coat and the man with the Armani suit wait But I can’t say it is always true. While I have been handed a menu before being seated at a nice restaurant (the hostess’ attempt at giving me a graceful way to depart if I could not afford it), I have also been treated like a princess in another restaurant when I arrived in my scuffed black flats and my husband in an ill-fitting suit (both purchased at Sears for a combined cost under $150). The middle class have money to burn, and we poor folks sometimes don’t know when to keep our hard-earned nickels and dimes in our pockets, either, so I don’t feel discriminated against. Who brings in more revenue in a year: that fancy restaurant I went to in New York City or the McDonald’s a few blocks away in Times Square that has no dress code?

This is not an age issue. This is a culture issue. I am an adult now, and I do not, nor have I ever opened a package in a store to examine the contents without returning it exactly as it was. Why? Because when I was young my mother told me it was wrong to play with things that did not belong to me without permission. Had she not corrected me, or had she displayed this same behavior when I was small, I would no doubt do the same. On a similar note: is it teenagers who open a pack of children’s socks or underwear and steal one pair and leave the rest? No. It is desperate parents who don’t know better.

So many commercials, so much fuss. My own sister teases her husband relentlessly about his thin spot. Please. She has a friend who is completely bald, yet she says nothing to him about it. And you know what? He looks great. So do a lot of bald guys I have known. The only ones who look silly are those who try to hide it. A combover is hideous, but a nicely trimmed head, even if some skin is showing, is always a turn-on. I sure hope I’m not alone in this, or I may never see the end of the Rogaine commercials.

Yeast infections are not the only cause of female odor. Nor is an odor always present when a yeast infection is(talking from experience here). I don’t have anything to compare to- the women I am intimate enough with to discuss such personal matters are also white (FAMILY). I want an expert opinion on this one. For one, I have not heard of white women being more prone to yeast infections- just about everyone gets them. And on the other hand, I have heard more racist comments about the hygene habits of other groups than of American born whites. I have even heard of us being called hygene obsessed! (Don’t even get me started with Bath and Body Works!!)

Had my husband told me about his ‘history’ early in the realationship, it would have ended. Early in a relationship, people are too self-conscious about themselves to handle that sort of thing. When you find someone that can brush off your past (even if it takes them a while) you have a keeper! PS- Long before we were married, I was comfortable enough with him to ask him if he had ever gotten anyone pregnant. When you can ask him this, you are ready to tell him.

When someone is violent towards themselves, the bystander feels very helpless. It is difficult to defend the weak, otherwise everyone would do it, not just heros. Just like it is hard to jump into the middle of a fight or to say something harsh to a man who abuses a woman, it is hard to try to stop someone from hurting themselves. Therefore, people often sit and sigh and say ‘what a pity’ when bad things happen to good people. THAT is why we do not help. We are afraid. We are weak too.
