MonikaParticipantWhy does that matter? The valid question would be: Why do you listen to NPR if you disagree with the radio content? Furthermore, white people may experience some form of discrimination but they hardly suffer from it. To both posters: Stop crying.User Detail :

MonikaParticipantI don't feel out of place at all. After all, I may not be there now but I will be someday. May as well get used to me.User Detail :

MonikaParticipantI don't think that articulation has anything to do with social class or ethnicity. I think it has more to do with the fact that most politicians will listen to rich white folks before they listen to poor ethnic folks anyday. Money talks before people do.User Detail :

MonikaParticipantI am a very successful black female. As far as I am concerned, if I can do it with two strikes against me, anyone can. People will hate me for two reasons. I hate to hear people say that 'the white man is keeping me down' or 'affirmative action is reverse racism'. Shutup, stop wallowing in self-pity and fight and scratch like the rest of us. That's what I did and I made it.User Detail :

MonikaParticipantI adore the British. They are very classy and so nice and hilarious. This may have something to do with the fact that I have watched British comedies with my mom since I was small (Are you being served?, Faulty Towers, Absolutely Fabulous). My opinion of Brits is that they all speak with posh accents, are extremely polite and love the Queen.:>)User Detail :

MonikaParticipantI think it is because there are a lot of aspects of the Catholic religion that have no foundation in the Bible. Ex. - Catholics pray to Mary for guidance and blessings. Jesus says in the Bible, in so many words, if you need something you come to me. He didn't say, ask my mom. Another example is that Catholics believe in statues and pictures of God, Jesus. One of the ten commandments is Thou shalt not make any graven images. Catholics disobey rules but still hold that they are 'the' church.User Detail :

MonikaParticipantSpeaking 'ebonically' has nothing to do with being lazy. I use it often but when I am around friends and family to express familiarity and comfort. I do not use it when at school or at work. White people use slang all the time. As a matter of fact, American English contains deviations of British English words the same way ebonics contains deviations of American English. However, I agree with you in that it should NOT be taught in schools because no matter how it arose or who speaks it, it is incorrect English.User Detail :

MonikaParticipantHonestly, I don't feel like I trust them enough to be friends with them. We can run our mouths, we can go out, but I can't see myself trusting them enough to the point where I would see them as a good friend. To tell you the truth, I feel the same way about a lot of black women so maybe it's not a racial thing but a gender thing.User Detail :

MonikaParticipantI often find that black men's shoulders and chest areas are a lot broader than their white counterparts. That may have to do with genetics; it could have to do with upbringing in that most blacks are interested and participate in sports. Whatever it is, THANK GOD, because, sweetie, they are so fine!!User Detail :
