I could understand if you asked why God created natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, tsunamis or diseases like cancer, AIDS,etc., but some things, like Euro sport, are created by humans who were given free will to do good or evil or stupid things. So don’t blame God for that. Remember, God gave man the knowledge to create polio vaccines, and other life-saving vaccines as well as medicines and surgical procedures to save lives and improve the quality of lives. Unfortunately, also the knowledge to create bombs and other weapons of mass destruction. Just Curious

I agree with your assessment. Sadly, war is usually good for the local economy, but the death and maiming of soldiers is too high a price. I think Bush and his cronies, including the Blackwater-related VP are in it for the money for no-bid! govt. contracts. I hope they burn in hell for it! Hopefully, Obama will be deal with problems more humanely or intelligently. As to why so many Americans backed Bush, it’s hard to say. He and the other Repubs lied their asses off, saying what people wanted to hear, scared people about terrorism and did dirty tricks to steal the 2004 election. Just Curious

How come those liberal bed wetters let you rant and rave? I hope you’re happy that welfare to mothers ais re being replaced by welfare to incompetent, greedy corporate leaders and probably for those auto execs that flew up to Washington in their private jets to beg for money. YOu sure have a lot of rage. Let’s hear your tune when you lose your job and can’t find a good one because of the rotten economy the Conservatives created. Just Curious

I think a centrist is someone who is neither a left or right (liberal or conservative) extremist, perhaps an independent voter who judges each issue on its own merit rather than having a kneejerk response based on ideology — or perhaps someone who is conservative on some issues & liberal on others. Does that sound about right? Just Curious

In 20 years, they’ll be asking the same kind of question about their kids’ ridiculous style choices. You’re probably too young to remember bell-bottoms, mini-skirts and disco boots. Each generation wants a signature style to set them apart from their fuddy duddy parents’ generation and, yes, to irk them. I agree with you though and find that style ridiculous. I also think all that tatooing, esp. on women, is unattractive, but it’s their choice and isn’t hurting anyone except themselves Just Curious

Why did you get your tongue pierced? As opposed to multiple ear piercings or something less weird? Seriously, I want to know. The people i know with pierced tongues seem to talk with a slight speech impediment, plus it seems unsanitary. Eyebrow piercings look weird to me too, but I’m middle aged and each generation has its own style. Just Curious

You asked them a question and they’re answering it honestly. Maybe they assumed you were sincere. Instead of saying how are you, just say, “good morning or good afternoon”, whatever. Some of these old people are lonely and have nobody to talk to. They mistake your cliche words for sincerity. Think about it. Just Curious

Even though this is being answered years later, let me respond. 1. Are you speaking proper English? Some blacks, even well educated ones, speak an Ebonics type language even on interviews. That will limit your opportunities. 2. Are you applying for jobs that you’re truly qualified for? 3. At the time you wrote this question, you didn’t have a h.s. diploma. Have you gotten a diploma or GED? If not, that may be holding you back. 4. Life isn’t fair. 5. Supply and demand. I’m white, college educated and experienced, yet I am not hired for the vast majority of jobs I apply for. They never give a reason. Just Curious

Free speech is a right in this country. The only thing I’d censor is threatening material or child porn. There are written works that offend me, but they have a right to be written. When hate speech is based on lies (as is usually is), it angers me, but as a librarian reminded me, it’s only offensive speech that needs protection since inoffensive speech doesn’t bother people. When governments suppress any kind of speech (other than child porn or credible threats), it’s abusing its power to control people, esp.those who disagree with govt. policy. Just Curious

Unlike most other religions, Jews do not proselytize, don’t seek ANY converts. There are Black Ethiopian Jews. Anyone with a sincere desire to convert to Judaism has to go through a long process, taking Jewish education classes for some time to prove their sincerity. Blacks are not discriminated against. Don’t know of any blacks other than Sammy Davis Jr. and one local man in St. Louis who chose to convert to Judaism. Blacks have already suffered discrimination so it’s hard to understand why they would chose to convert to a religion that’s been persecuted for millenia. Just Curious

I don’t understand your question. Do you mean hatred toward Jews or hatred in general – toward gays and other groups. THE ADL – antidefamation league, a Jewish organization, monitors and fights all kinds of discrimination and hate crimes. Just Curious

Henry Ford was an outspoken antisemite, still I don’t know any Jews who avoid buying Fords. Some avoid buying German cars because of the Holocaust, though. Just Curious

People are always looking for a scapegoat when times are bad. Since Jews have always valued education, they have had better jobs and more wealth than the average person. Some people hate or distrust them or are jealous of them for that reason. Also, it used to be taught that the Jews killed Jesus (it was the Romans who did that) and that was one justification for hating Jews. The Pope withdrew that Jesus killer charge many years ago. Also, most Jews refuse to convert to Christianity and Christian fanatics felt they must convert everyone and those who refused weren’t worth living. Just Curious

If you know most of the material, you can take advanced placement tests to prove it so you glide on to college or you can take GED tests to prove it and get a HS equivalency degree. If you only think you know all that stuff, well… Just Curious
