Chekia, It all depends on the Indian and his parents. Indians whose parents have traditional values make it difficult to date outside their race or cast. As India evolves the parents have also evolved with the times and change with traditions. My boyfriend is Indian and I am white. We have had no issues and his parents are very excited we may marry. His grandma on the other had has an issue. She is set in her traditional ways. African Americans are portrayed very negatively in India. Most Indians see what is on television and the media and believe it is true. Not everyone from India is aware how absurd and inaccurate that is. Realize what your boyfriend is also going through by going against his parents wishes and traditional values. I am sure his parents will open up once they realize how serious their son is about your relationship.

Clair, I was in Hyderabad around the same time. It is such a small town you were probably the only black person in the whole city. Their education is only from the media. With not many black or white people in India they may not have know how to act. You felt probably how the Arabic feel about coming to the US now. Not everyone in India acts that way. Not everyone in the US acts that way.

I agree with you, Craig. That is so rude. Say no thank you, but don't be a bitch.

Carlos, those aren't bad qualities. Maybe you just have not found the right woman. They may hold you back a little from being more forward and going after what you want, but you will find that girl when the time is right.

I think woman get discriminated against more because we are still considered the weaker sex. Unfortunately, this is still a man's world. Woman have to prove their intelligence and their abilities to do things all the time.

You asked why we think it is amusing. I simply think it is something as simple as the character Apu from the Simpson's. If you ever here an American trying to imitate and Indian accent they are mocking Apu not a true Indian from India. Apu's accent is exaggerated and that is what makes it funny.

If someone is happy with his or her body, I say let them wear whatever they want. We all come in different shapes and sizes. If you are a size 18, five feet tall and feel comfortable with yourself, then wear something that shows off your body. If you go around trying to make others happy, you will never truly be happy.

I work for a successfully run Indian computer consulting company, and it seems to me that some Indians have the conception that Americans are out to get them and are jealous of them. That is not true. Maybe the Indians you think are targeted in New Jersey are victims of random acts of violence. You don't know that these crimes were motivated by Americans' hatred to Indians.
