MarianParticipantI’ve passed by several jewish cemeteries in my neighborhood, and I’ve noticed that their gravestones are all right next to each other. It would support the rumor that they are buried standing up, although I am not sure if that is true. All I know is that the stones are much too close to each other to allow room for horizontal burial. Maybe they cremate the bodies?

MarianParticipantMy boyfriend does it alot..like 2-6 times a day. But then again, we don’t usually have time to do the real thing everytime i see him. I think it mostly has to do with age…teenagers and young adults will do it more often simply because of hormones.

MarianParticipantJohnna made some very good points. I would also like to add that alot of the people who are currently between 18-25 grew up in a very prosperous age..meaning the 90s. Alot of us were able to buy things because our parents could afford giving $100 allowances a week. I simply assessed that from observing all the students I went to school with in Junior High and High School. I was not that lucky, I worked at the age of 8 until now, at the age of 20. I understand the value of money, and how fast it can go. People will spend the way they are accustomed to until something dire happens, like they go bankrupt. Then they suddenly think it’s not their fault, that someone else can just fix it all (i.e. Mommy + Daddy). The best way is education…parents must teach the value of money to their kids at an early age. Also, parents should keep tabs on their children’s credit cards, especially those in college. I believe there is a kind of program at banks, they will give your child a credit card, but the parent would be the one to supervise it or something (maybe they get a transactions history every month?). I don’t have that on my credit card, but I am very disciplined, and I always pay off the entire balance when i get my bill. Education is the key, as well as practice. Your kids may hate you for awhile, but they will appreciate it later.

MarianParticipantIn certain cultures or countries, people don’t usually accept gifts. Being Asian, I know that is the culture for people in Taiwan. Usually, if you are the recipient, you are supposed to refuse the gift three times. If the giver continues to insist on giving it to you, you may accept. The number of times you refuse is up to you, but usually three would be best: if you refuse too few times, you look greedy; if you refuse too many times, you look like you are refusing their good intentions.

MarianParticipantDon’t worry about it. When i got mine the first time, it was a real shade of brown too. I also was very irregular…sometimes exactly every month, and sometimes every other month. There should be no need to worry for another year or 2..these things take time to even out. Don’t be afraid to ask your school nurse if you have more questions, if you feel squeamish about talking to your mom.

MarianParticipantI have never heard that before. My only guess is that you could be very uncomfortable with it on for several hours, and no way to really fix it when there’s a weird guy sitting next to you.

MarianParticipantI am shocked to hear that people would vandalize your car just because they didn’t like what you had on it. I am not an atheist, but I do not follow any kind of organized religion. I am happy with myself, and I believe I have a very good set of morals. Lucky for me, I have not had bad experiences with those who are Christian. The worst ones just try to say that I should convert because of some reason or other, or they will mumble some kind of judgment about my morality under their breath. I have attended Catholic school for seven years. I know what they teach, and it’s not all bad. There are a few things that I’ve been taught that I find repulsive and/or illogical.
No, I do not hate Christians or those of any other religion. What I do hate is when a select few believe it is their right to impose their ideas on me. I do not mind attending church or learning the religion. I’ve done it, purely to educate myself so that I may find whether I agree with it or not. But do not force a belief on anyone. No one likes to be forced; I believe that is why there are so many atheists out there. A lot of them had bad experiences in school or at home.
