Maybe it’s not that white people do not have ryhthm, but that white people do not define rhythm the same way as you. It’s possible that a white person could watch you dance and say you have absolutely no rhythm, according to their opinion of how someone should dance.

The ideal of true democracy allows us to welcome individuals from other countries without stripping them of their natural heritage. By using hyphenated ethnicity identification you allow the individual to retain their first and foremost identity. The single most important feature that separates America from other nations is not our freedom, but our ability to fight for and express our freedom, regardless of what our national origin may be.

I would say that it depends on what part of the country you live in. Southern mentality says ‘Hell No’ Northern mentality says ‘Hell yes’

Religion can consume any individual and cloud his/her view of what true spirituality and spiritual relationships are all about. Don’t consume yourself with the concepts or taboos of religion, just be yourself and live happy. That is ALL that matters.

in reply to: reparations? Why? #34974

racism is very alive, albeit in more discreet fashions than the 1800’s, and individuals would like to deter racism as much as possible. When we break a law we may be fined and that fine is supposed to deter us from ever committing that crime again. By receiving reparations individuals from different minorities have a stronger influence as to whether or not such atrocities should happen again. If you had to pay monetary damages to an individual wouldn’t it deter you from taking advantage of that individual? It’s a guarantee, so-to-speak. Or at least it is to many individuals, and so far it’s all we’ve got to level the playing field. Also, if your ancestors would have heeded the words that were spoken to them ‘everything you do may not affect you, but will have an everlasting affect on your child’ it’s possible that reparations would not be necessary.

The first things you must ask yourself before ‘confessing’ are, why am I compelled to confess, and who will benefit the most from my confession? Generally the reason we confess our secrets is to relieve ourselves from guilt. If you confess out of guilt, then you should expect no less pain than the pain you already feel inside. Don’t open a can of worms to benefit yourself unless your ready to face a lot more than a guilty conscience.

some individuals, such as caucasians, have never suffered from racism and therefore it is impossible (without divine intervention) for one to identify all racial actions. It’s as simple as that. You don’t know what you are doing is bad until you’ve had it done to you.
