KCEMemberI grew up in the country and around horses. So I prefer male body sprays that have a ‘leather’ or ‘outdoorsy’ base to them, such as Stetson or Santa Fe for the day. For something more formal (read: an evening date), I like a clean scent that is still ‘outdoorsy’, such as Drakkar or Cool Water. Some of my female friends who grew up ocean-side or in the big city prefer other scents such as Axe or Smalto. My advice also is to find out what her father wears on a regular basis and steer clear of it. It may get subconsciously weird for her.

KCEMemberFor the same reason people go camping in the woods: to get closer to nature. You truly have a better chance of winning the lottery than getting attacked by something in the water (take it from a surfer). Just learn how to identify jellyfish or manowars, wear ‘footies’ so you don’t step on a stingray or coral or broken glass with bare feet, and don’t surf in areas with schooling fish, and you’ll be fine! Rip currents are actually more dangerous than any critter in the sea.

KCEMemberLOL! I’d be more concerned about poison ivy or oak than changing socks. However, it can be done. To an extreme novice to the realm of backwoods camping, it can take a while to get the hang of it. Find something to hold onto for balance, squat and do what you need to do. Just be sure to clean up after yourself and KNOW what poison ivy/oak/sumac looks like.

KCEMemberI was comatose for 2.5 months a couple years ago. My doctors told my parents and my (then) fiance’ to bring in my favorite music to help bring me out of it and calm me (I was having seizure-like symptoms while I was under). They brought it in and played it constantly. It calmed me and helped me come around without being too shocked. While this isn’t formally music therapy (i.e. administered by a therapist), it falls in the catagory. As far as where it is accepted, here in the States it’s considered a form of alternative medicine. Some insurance agencies cover it in part if it is underwritten by a physician. I’m not sure about liscensing (sp?). However, there are college degrees in music therapy at some universities. I also judge local science fairs. One of the displays at a recent one concerned comparing alternative therapies for pediatric cancer cases in Florida. A vast majority of the patients surveyed (I’ve forgotten the number) used music therapy in addition to their conventional treatments (chemo, radiation, et al). FWIW, music therapy also figures in prodominantly in biofeedback which helps identify core emotional states in psychotherapy programs. K.

KCEMember..to what has been already said, as a former Disney employee I can tell you a bit more about where this animosity (real or implied) comes from. In training, we were told to ‘think for the tourists since they leave their brains at the terminal.’ Sometimes, it goes a bit too far. To illustrate, there is a legend (don’t know if it’s true) that is rampant in the parks. It says that Joe Peschi (sp?) came up with his Leathal Weapon character by watching a Disneyland employee tell people where the bathroom was while the sign was perfectly visible nearby. As in,’ok. ok. they’re over there. ok. ok.’ Such unprofessionalism as you speak of is inexcusable regardless of the low pay, lousy hours, lousy benefits, overbearing management, et al. No wonder there is a high turnover rate amongst the theme park attractions. I’d like to know where it was that you were wronged. And, it’s not just to tourists (domestic or foreign), but to locals as well. In this current climate, it is uncertain where the next paycheck, however meager, is coming from. So, out of fear and frustration, tounge lashings happen. Not an excuse, but perhaps an explanation.

KCEMemberWhile working at one of the theme parks for Halloween, both guys and us gals (employees here)get groped. I asked one of the guys who I witnessed get his tail pinched what he wanted to do about it. He said nothing, he enjoyed it. Others had as well, even after I sent security after the girls who did it. They may not have wanted to persue it, but when my tail got spanked by a guest I wanted to throw the book at him. Unfortunately, he got away…
