Jessica G.ParticipantI was a virgin until I was eighteen, I had met a man I was in a serious relationship with and he was my first. Yes, it hurt the first time, but only a little, like getting poked in the arm. Was it fun? Yes. Is it always fun? No. I understand you sexual urges, they are natural, and in this age of disease you can never be too careful. It’s ok to have sex before marriage, but I suggest at least waiting for a meaningful relationship to come along. It’s 100% more fun when your with someone you love, who will enjoy learning about you and what you like, than someone who just wants instant gratification and doesn’t give a damn about how you feel.

Jessica G.ParticipantIt’s the constant drilling of the media that tells us only long legged, flat stomached, perfect in every way women get anything in life, and it’s not true. We bend over backwards to meet social demands, shaving our legs, waxing unibrows, facial hair, bikini lines, colouring, bleaching, plucking, adding fat in some areas and taking it away from others. I’ve met women who have injected chemicals into their skin to get rid of their freckles. I’ve been told several times that my freckles are a blemish, like a pimple, or a scar. Am I trying to get rid of them? No. Because I know many who love me, freckles or not, and anyone who goes to such extremes to be perfect are going to be miserable 30 years down the road when they start to sag, wrinkle, go grey, get blotchy skin, etc. Perfect beauty doesn’t give us anything but lots of bills.

Jessica G.ParticipantMy favourite one is the women who don’t speak their mind are dumb, but the ones that do are bitches!

Jessica G.ParticipantI’m a white girl that grew up in the ghetto. I knew those kids that walked in the center of the road, daring traffic to run them over. It’s a show of force, letting you know that ‘I may be poor, but I am not afraid!’ Many of us had parents that worked two and three jobs and didn’t have time to teach us respect. We learned it the day one of us got hit by a car. As far as bringing the ghetto out with us, we want the same things you have, and we want to earn it. We want to take the people we love with us. So when I finally got a house outside the gate, I asked my best friend and her mom to join me. Besides, its easier to pay bills with three incomes than one. The broke down car in the yard? It’s because we can’t afford the brand new ones. Failing to maintain our property? We need milk and bread, and that is much more important that a lawn mower. I work hard to feed my children, as does everyone I know from the ghetto. Dress and act? I don’t dress nasty, neither does anyone I know. Please, don’t confuse us with drug pushers and hookers. We are people who are down on our luck, or made a few mistakes in life, trying to make it better. And those that are drug pushers and hookers, they just ran out of options. It doesn’t mean that I am just like them, or that they didn’t try. Unfortunately, once we are in the ghetto, few make it out, because the image that society gave us keeps us there. Like the gates in the ghetto I lived in. They weren’t to keep people out, but to keep us in.

Jessica G.ParticipantI had my son at age twenty, and during my pregnancy I gained a very unhealthy 150lbs. I weighed 300 lbs when I gave birth. 60 of that went away at birth, but I still had 90 lbs to deal with! I was frustrated, upset, and depressed, and like many women, I turned to food to deal with my depression. When the weight stayed on, I went off the edge. I tried everything! But then I thought about the gift I had been given; my beautiful son, the perfect thing to help me lose weight! Playing with him burned calories, taking him to the zoo burned calories, anything I could do with my boy in tow burned calories! So I took him everywhere! The zoo, the park, the grocery store, anywhere! I got two benefits out of it. Not only did I get back in shape (only 30 lbs to go!) but my son learned beyond his 3 and a half years! He can read, knows his animals, his colours, all sorts of stuff, all because I included him in the simplest things we take for granted, like reading a soup label. My stomach is still pouchy, and my bum is still round, but I am no longer obese! Take your child and go everywhere you can put an hours walking into, and teach them along the way! it will make you feel better, look better and your child has a head start for school!

Jessica G.ParticipantI count myself as an american, and if I tried to hyphenate it it would go something like this: Scottish-Irish-German-Native-English-….. you get it? I too believe that hypens need to go. I understand someone who moved here from their native country to become an american being called say asian-american. But If you are born here, then you are simply american.

Jessica G.ParticipantI have noticed this in the men in my house, and I believe it depends on how great the need to urinate is. Another male friend however, says it could be from the inability to relax your muscles.
