Hell no! What you seem to be overlooking is that all those people you mentioned are real people, who lived real lives, and left behind solid evidence to their lives. We actually know how they lived and what they did for a fact. The Bible, on the other hand is, as far as I'm concerned, a work of fiction. They could certainly offer it as a course in high school that looked into the supposed lives of the prophets and referenced the Bible with known historical facts, and to be honest I'd probably take that course. But very little of the Bible is known fact, and therefore cannot be taught as fact, especially in elementary or junior-high as a required class. Parents would be outraged and might even have to transfer their kids to a different school. What you propose is simply preposterous.

I think that there is an Amish tradition that when they turn a certain age, somewhere in their 'teens, they are allowed to experience a 'normal' life with electricity and shopping malls and all those other things that most people take for granted and then choose if they want that over their life as an Amish.

I have pondered this myself, along with many other 'flaws' in Christian beliefs. I think that because of many of their other beliefs, they have come to the conclusion that its just common sense. And this common sense has solidified into accepted belief, which has in turn become subconscious law. I'm sorry I don't have a solid answer for you, but that's the conclusion I've come to.

Obviously you dont need proof in 'god' to believe in him, otherwise no one would. As an Atheist who was raised Christian, I dont deny Gods existence because there is no proof that he exists, but because there is a hell of a lot of proof that he doesnt. My mind will not allow me to believe in 'god' because his existence would disprove the laws nature itself and is entirely illogical.
