But people DO refer to Irish-Americans, and Polish-Americans, Chinese-Americans, Mexican-Americans, and all the other ethno-Americans. For whatever reason, presumably that almost all of us are from immigrant stock, Americans seem to be a bit fixated on origins, hence we make these references. My personal is for names rather than labels. If you find blacks ‘demanding’ to be called African American, perhaps it’s because they feel they have the same right to pride of heritage as the rest of us ethno-Americans.

just one minor point. you said cats don’t do anything to help out. although that statement is usually true now, i wish to point out that the original reason for keeping cats was so that they would control rodents near our food supplies, and that with this history, cats fully deserve the ‘retirement’ they now enjoy.

From the responses so far, by now you know that very few men, on a percentage basis, feel the urge to rape, and I’m another who doesn’t. But of course we think of you as sex objects! What are we supposed to think of? Wall sockets? Tangerines? Coffee cups? No, when I think about sex, the object I have in mind is a woman who doesn’t object. (Get it? Little play on words, there.) Where many men go wrong is in thinking of them as ONLY sex objects. More highly evolved men recognize that, in addition to their delightful potential as sex partners, women are also capable of all the things men are. As for porn, most men are easily stimulated by the visual, whereas (I hear) most of you women like a good romance novel.

That’s a non-answer. The question, and it’s one I have long wondered about also, was why would a homosexual, who presumably is trying to attract someone of the same sex, go to great lengths to look like someone of the opposite sex. We must also presume that they are not trying to attract someone who is geographically or temporally distant from them, so your response regarding fashions changing in different times and places is specious. If a gay man is trying to attract a gay man, it seems to me his best fashion strategy is to look as manly as can be, however that is defined in his particular time and place. Please understand, I have no problem with cross-dressing gays, I’m just baffled by the illogic of it.

As a man, I find breast size to be VERY important, but not in the way you might think. I like ’em small. The smaller the better! I think large breasts make a woman look absolutely bovine and top heavy, and that’s a turn-off.
