SarahMemberIt could just be that she’s modified her language a bit to make him feel more comfortable. It may be that he’s toned down his Ebonics (or whatever you want to call it – I think it’s an ugly-sounding word). I have recently been seeing a black guy on and off, and when he’s around his friends I literally cannot understand the slang and what he’s saying, but he tones it down when he talks to me. Likewise, I borrow some of his slang and mannerisms when I talk to him. It’s to make each other feel more comfortable, and to understand each other better.

SarahMemberHere’s the thing, the original poster wasn’t saying that all white people are sexual deviants, they’re just saying that there seems to be a much higher instance of incest, bestiality, etc among white people than among black people. Honestly, I have noticed this too. I’m not black, but I live in a black neighborhood, listen to a lot of black music, read black literature. I’m not saying that I totally understand the culture just from reading some books, but I will say that my current perception about black sexuality is that it is very much about fellatio and straight-up intercourse. I rarely hear or read anything about bondage, fetishes, S&M or any other ‘fringe’ practices, most of the S&M or fetish literature I’ve read have been by white writers. Just an observation.

I personally am fascinated by black dialect, by the slang and the way this whole new language evolved. There is such a great divide between black and white culture, it’s no surprise that a whole new language would have sprung forth. Also, who really speaks proper English? Americans sure don’t, only British people do. I’m sure our ‘hick’ American accents and slang sound very offensive to the British, but that doesn’t mean we speak a worthless and improper language. Ebonics is varied and interesting, the dialect in Los Angeles is very different from the slang used in Florida or New York. I’d personally like to new of a source to read up on it more.

There is no crime there, but the people must be terrified of something, because so many of the ritzy condos have gates, passwords, keys, tokens, guards, and punchpads to get through. I literally had to go through 3 different types of security gates/punchpads to get to this one woman’s home. The best answer I can give is that these people must have an intense fear of the ‘other’, they feel that their isolation (not just behind the gate, but living in an isolated, distant part of town as well) brings safety and also status. If you have to live among the ‘common folk’, then these people pity you, because to them that means you must be too poor to afford it.
