SamMemberAgree. Bartering not only hurts the business but it hurts employees, CEO, and most importantly it hurts countries like China. People there do hard work to make a product. We should appreciate it and buy in bulk and spend more so it helps others. I have seen some people try to barter with car sales man and smile when the car sales man agrees to lower the price. This is very shameful.

SamMemberInteresting observation. I think all FOB(fresh off the boat) would do this. It happens to be there are more Indian FOBs in USA because of our government’s H1B visa rule.

SamMemberI think it is convenient, quick, and hygienic when they are outside. So they continue do it inside the home out of laziness. I see no reason why they cannot sit down at least when they are in home. All men who has to clean their own bathrooms mostly sit down in their home.

SamMemberThis is not uncommon at all in other countries. I agree with you that it is rude but etiquette rules regarding rudeness are not same across the world. E.g. holding the door open is polite here in the USA. People in most other countries just don’t care. In fact they get surprised when someone is holding the door open for the next person. They think why to waste time in holding the door open? I can open the door and so everyone can. On the flip side when cop addresses a driver, “Sir” while giving him a ticket is quite sarcastic.

SamMemberI think men wants to avoid situation like sexual harassment. E.g. when a man make sexual advances to a woman at work place, woman can file sexual harassment charge saying that “she is scared coming to the work”. Men feel same when there is a masculine gay man around. I have not seen men have any issues when a feminine gay man is around. Men are not afraid of feminine gay man.

SamMemberI think paying employee less than the minimum wage is excellent idea to stay in business in this economy. This idea should not be kept limited to restaurant industry. Idea should be extended to other industries where customer service is needed. Like utility companies, medical services, stores, opticians, post office, UPS, Police, DMV, City/County/State services, repair shop, etc. This way employer can stay in business and employee get good salary(tips) from the customers.

SamMemberI believe its just an extra piece of “makeup” if you will. I have noticed not only red but many other colored dots on their foreheads. Most of the woman like to wear makeup, jewelry, ear rings, different pieces in hair, rings, tattoo, etc. I’ve seen Indian women with heena on their hands. Heena and dots are not permanent like tattoos so they have choice to change them often.

SamMemberI believe in the western countries also, if your skin is white then you are considered more beautiful and desired. Majority of whites gets attracted to the partners whose skin color is white or less dark like people from Asia.

SamMemberI believe it has something to do with the religion. Some Christians wears a pendant in a neckless which has cross on it or is made in a shape of cross. Likewise some Indians put ‘Tilak’ on their forehead every morning while worshiping the God. Tilak can be red or can be yellow or gray depending on what they use to make the Tilak. Many Indians wipe the Tliak out before stepping out of the home but some don’t.

SamMemberI have many Indian friends. As per my information caste system is not any dipper then the “last name” that we use here in USA. India has many states. Each state have different language, culture, etc. Imagine combining all Europeans countries into one nation. Indians gets background of a person based on the last name(caste). e.g. Last name (caste) tells them more about which state person is from, what part of the state, who his relatives are, what his culture is, what his values are, etc. Lastly, Indians coming to USA are NOT from the upper caste but they can come here because they are degree holders. University gives degree to a student who have successfully completed the degree requirements and degree requirement does NOT list caste as one of the requirements.

SamMemberInteresting. I’ve visited many countries on my buusiness visits. In some countries tip is included in the original price of the food so employer can pay higher wages to the employee. Plus employer keep an eye on the employee. If employee behaves bad with the custom he gets fired.
