RamonMemberThese occurrences you’ve described are silly fads. As an American of African descent, I sometimes get frustrated over such silly, trivial displays of stupidity by other black males. These fads just add to the stereotypes put upon us. What is the practical significance of wearing pants below your butt so that your underwear is exposed, of chewing on a straw, wearing a Band-aid where there’s no cut, limping as if you have a war injury, constantly refraining from using correct English, spending your whole paycheck on an outfit, putting gold in your mouth or driving a Cadillac Escalade with rims while you live in an apartment? Most of our young black men are so easily led by the unrealistic images on BET that they try to emulate this crap. These individuals have no identity, are misguided and easily follow whatever fad arises without questioning its source and/or meaning. Almost 70 percent of black households have no father. Much more have a male present who doesn’t do a father’s job. This is what we have reaped. It is sad.

RamonMemberA.J.B., the scripture you quoted was from the book of Leviticus. It is, of course, part of the Old Testament. Being such, it falls under what Christians consider ‘the law.’ That is, it is part of a set of regulations that were and are followed by Jews, not Christians. Basically, this includes circumcision, no eating of pork, etc. Contained in the law are not only religious and civil practices but also moral rules. The commandments concerning sex usually fall under this area. When Jesus came and performed his multi-faceted ministry, one of the things he did was nullify mankind’s need to follow the Old Testament, or ‘Mosaic Law.’ This law by itself did not change man’s heart toward sin or loose him from the addictive grip of sin. That is what is meant in John 1:17: ‘For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.’ Only this grace given by Jesus could save men from the guilt, cleanse them from the stain and set them free from the bondage of sin. John 8:32-34 says, ‘And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, ye shall be made free? Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant to sin.’
Now to the sin of homosexuality. This sin does fall under the pratices that Christians are supposed to avoid. Sex outside of marriage is sin, according to scripture. I Corinthians 7:2 says, ‘Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.’ Fornication (sex outside of marriage) is sin. So naturally, homosexual sex practices fall outside of this because male-to-male marriage is never taught, supported or condoned anywhere in the Bible.
I don’t hate you. Neither should any Christian. I love you and want you in any good church. Yet, as a believer in Jesus I must hate sin.

RamonMemberKarim, with all due respect, how just is this law when in both instances (beating or stoning) the life of the innocent unborn child is overlooked? Beating can cause injury and/or death to the child, while stoning would surely kill it. Therefore, it seems hypocritical for Muslims to denounce abortion but at the same time uphold such practices.

RamonMemberTo William: You don’t know if Africans have evolved from barbaric behavior – as whites have? What about pedophile Catholic priests (most of whom are white), most serial killers, domestic terrorists like Timothy McVeigh, the white ‘gentlemen’ who dragged the African American to his death in Texas, the mass carnage in the Balkans, the horrors of what whites have done in South Africa (the same place where all the ‘barbaric’ black Africans live), the racists who bombed teenage girls in a church during the civil rights movement and other crimes by the KKK and other white supremacist groups? These surely display how much you guys have evolved from barbaric behavior.
