KristyMemberI believe that the military should be completely equal. That means women being required to sign up for a potential draft and being in combat positions. I was in the military for four years after graduating high school, and I wanted to carry all the burdens my male coworkers did. I wasn’t looking for special treatment. I think the reason women aren’t fully integrated into the military is because the male-dominated power structure won’t let them be, not because women don’t want to defend their country. With that said, women who join the military must also take responsibility for being in good physical shape. I was in the Navy, and most of the women I met were horribly weak and out of shape. A good majority were even fat! With equal rights comes equal responsibility. Women who want to be in the military need to grow up, shape up and be strong, just like the men.

KristyMemberI’m so sorry for you that you want to use this forum to be an angry bigot. You are obviously a bitter person. It is my wish for you that whatever is making you so bitter is gently resolved. I’m wishing you happiness for the future.

KristyMemberI like NPR because it’s not over-the-top news like you would find on television. NPR goes out of its way to be fair and to have high standards for journalism, and I like that. Recently I heard an interview with a guy from Metalica – hardly fits your whiney, pampered, female stereotype, eh? I like the BBC news for that same reason. I get disgusted with television news because there is so much ‘hype’ and it’s so slanted. I want to hear the news – not someone else’s opinions – when I listen to the news.

KristyMemberI’m a lesbian and have met just as many lesbian players as straight male players. Some women just think that’s cool. I don’t get it, but whatever turns them on, I guess……

KristyMemberI’m a gay woman and my experience is that I’m not disgusted or grossed out by mens’ bodies. I’ve had my share of sex with men, and the only thing I don’t like is oral sex. I identify as gay because I can easily fall in love with a woman whereas I don’t fall in love with a man. I want to be married to a woman and could potentially have children with a woman, but I don’t want that type of relationship with a man. For me it’s about who you love that makes you gay. I also get turned-on by looking at a naked woman whereas I don’t get turned on by looking at a naked man. I don’t think the capacity for sex in and of itself has anything to do with being gay. Great question!

KristyMemberThat is the funniest question! I’m white and have never thought about our trotting habits. I have no explanation for it – none. We’re just goofy, I guess. I’m going to start watching for the White Globe Trotters, and I’ll laugh my butt off when I see them from now on. Thanks for the giggle!

KristyMemberWhere I live, most women who I see in lesbian bars wouldn’t be identifiable as a lesbian if they were just walking down the street. I know that I look ‘straight.’ I ‘compensate’ for being a tall, thin preppy by wearing gay jewelry that identifies me as a lesbian. Otherwise, how else would I get a date? When I do go to gay bars, I try to dress in stereotypical lesbian dress not because that’s my style, but because I don’t want anyone to think I’m bisexual. People tend to dress like their peer group, and if lesbians only hang around other lesbians, you learn what to wear to look like your peer group. I think the stereotypical flannel-wearing, super short hair style is just more of a stereotype than actual reality. Most women I meet in gay bars are beautiful and very fashionable.
