I’m a dancer. I think some dancers use drugs for the same reasons other people use drugs – escape, not thinking about the future, inability to resist temptation, to be cool. Dancers (we don’t really use stripper that much) tend to do OK with money and it is cash so maybe they have more access/opportunity. I have danced on and off for 11 years – every dancer has her own story, some boring, some tragic, but easy money is a central theme. I have danced on and off for 11 years. I work at a very upscale club in Atlanta. Atlanta has a large black population, and that owners try to keep a mix of girls of all races to appeal to guys of all types and fantasies. I am Asian and there are certain men to whom Asian women are very attractive – rarely Asian guys, they like big blondes as a general rule. What the management is mostly concerned with is that the customer base doesn’t become too black – once a club (strip or otherwise) gets a reputation as ‘black’ then the white customers stop coming. The race of the dancers doesn’t make that much difference – lots of black guys like white dancers. By being upscale (expensive) they keep out the lower income guys, which tends to be more black than white. Businessmen and professionals of any color tend to not like to socialize in clubs frequented by either streetier or rednecky types of any race. It think it is more about class than race.
