The people who ‘maintain the down with the white man mentality’ and those who ‘pump hatred and drugs’ into our community are two different groups. The Pro-Black aspect of our community is respected by most but not while white folk are present. The ‘gangsta rapper’ type are not as well-respected but money can buy respect and sadly in many instances when hard-working honest black folk need money for a funeral or whatever and they can’t get a loan they ask the ‘drug dealer’ type for the money and many will give (not loan) them the money. 50 cent is a character who represents an aspect of the black community that many people think is prevalent. These people can’t distinguish 50 cent from any other black person and think we are all ignorant and thuggish. I don’t like what 50cent claims to represent and I think he is accepted more in the white community than the black community, as white people consume more ‘Gangsta rap’ than black folk. He (50cent) lives in a very affluent white community so is he bringing them down? Why cant black folks get food or an education? Maybe if educated black folks like myself were fairly compensated then more kids would strive to educate themselves. The drug dealer is the only successful person a lot of kids see. Why would a kid want to seek higher education if they don’t see the payoff, can’t get a loan/job/promotion or even the benefit of the doubt what does education yield but the same result as not going to school.

There are many Black people in the Carolina’s and the Midwest so I dont think that is it. I think that Black folks cant relate to driving without getting pulled over every 5 minutes. (just joking) I am not attracted to Nascar because it takes too long to complete the race. The race is hard to follow because of bad camera angles. Lastly the crowd that have Nascar bumper stickers are not the most ethnic friendly folks. Ps. Black folks do watch and participate in drag racing.

study diction and regional speech patterns. Most Black folks migrated from the south so since we tend to be raised in households with southern speech patterns then we tend to speak that way as well.

The government has been trying to destroy African Americans since 1865 and has never really stopped. There have been times when the assault has been slowed, but it has never really stopped. With Hurricane Katrina many saw the major problem as looting – not people dying, stranded and starving. The fact that some people believe property is more important than human life is insane. Then their were the rumors of murders and shooting – this was the focus, yet more people drowned, starved or died from heat stroke than were killed, beaten or raped during this tragedy. The good ole’ system wants to demonize an entire group of people because of the color of their skin.

I know you don’t want to hear this and might not care or even want to begin to consider that perhaps the way you view the world is a bit backward, but if you can take an objective look you’ll see that the crimes committed against black people did not stop in 1965, 1985, 1995 or 2005. Police shoot us even when we are not guilty of anything and are unarmed, and they never get charged. We get longer jail sentences than others for identical crimes. Since slavery we have never been compensated or given a chance to compete on a level playing field. They gave us affirmative action only to have it include white women, who get the lion’s share of the benefits. The only area where we can compete on a semi-level playing field is sports, and they have drafted legislation to prevent that at the high school and college level. So the next time you feel black people are whining, look at it from our point of view and ask: Why do they give us a reason to whine? Why do they legislate in that manner? Why do they get shot 41 times on their front porch? Why are they violated in police stations with broomsticks? Why, when they say something’s racist, are they made to look foolish, regardless of how true it is?

We see things a bit different because we have experience with this governemnt, which allows us to see through the smoke screen/spin/ fluff/ bull.

This BET awards are a product of BET Television, which was founded in response to the lack of quality programming for African Americans in the 1980s. The awards provide recognition to artists who are respected and admired among African Americans but are neglected by the pop or white award shows. The name is of little importance but the cause is noble and there are awards that have never and will never award an African American anything, i.e. country music awards (although it was invented by African Americans), bluegrass awards, etc. They don’t have to be named the white awards to be just that. Come on. If you don’t like the BET awards, don’t watch them.

Maybe they don’t know that black people invented rock music, or maybe they think you don’t like hip-hop because you don’t like the color of the people who run it.

All White people are not racist your argument is flawed. So since John Brown was White the KKK could not have been racist? Just because there are white people down there saving lives does not excuse FEma and it’s director from their lack of response for his lack of tact. MR. Brown on CNN stated that it was the victoms fault that they were stranded, starving and dying regardless of how you feel about that statement it was the wrong time to say that seeing that FEMA had not made it to New Orleans yet. In addition to that they saud they counldnt get into the city how weve 2 Duke students drove in and out of NO repeatedly and video taped it. CNN made it there FOX made it their MSNBC made it their hell I think Ben lade could have walked their in the time it took the government to respond to tax payers in distress. the irony is that a week or 2 prior to the hurricain they spent about 10 million dollars sending equipmant to russia to rescue a stranded suit took them 18 hours to get to russia and 5 days to get to the damn gulf coast. Why?
