The difference is simple. We are not targeting innocent civilians. U.S. military forces are making every attempt to minimize civilian casualties. The terrorists made no such attempts, and thousands of innocent civilians are now dead. In fact, we are dropping thousands of packages containing food for Afghan civilians who would otherwise starve during the winter. Granted, there are no Arabic instructions on the packages, but then again, the Taliban excludes women from being educated, so many young mothers would not be able to read them, anyway. We send them food, the terrorists send us Anthrax-laden mail. Are you suggesting we allow these attacks to go unanswered? What end would that accomplish?

It does seem like an archaic practice hailing back to the days when if your male population was wiped out in war, the few remaining males could repopulate your country within one generation. Females could only reproduce once every nine months. Males could reproduce, well, as many times as they had the opportunity. If you are also referring to women serving in a combat role, (infantry, armor, etc.) I am ashamed to admit that we may not be ready yet. Can women serve in these roles? Historically, yes. But still, I was always embarrassed at the way my comrades behaved around female personnel after or during a long FTX – Field Trainining Exercise. (Slightly off subject note: I recall a study that proved that slightly overweight women with high blood pressure could be better fighter pilots than 25-year-old healthy males because of their ability to handle sustained and extreme ‘g’ loads. I cannot confirm or remember the source.)

I would welcome a relationship with a woman who is both financially and economically secure. It seems that I meet either one or the other. Women who are finacially secure tend to have emotional problems, and emotionally secure women tend to have finacial problems. I am sure there are many of you out there, though. I am curious about why these men have to ‘regain the upper hand.’ Is there some sort of dominance issue here? Perhaps I am too much of an idealist, but I believe a good relationship should rely on a balance between strengths and weaknesses of two people. I can relate to the speaking of one’s mind without hesitation. In my case, it is often referred as ‘Foot IN Mouth Disease.’ It’s just the way I am.
