Courtney H.MemberAmanda, I’m a celibate Christian woman who believes like you, though born with the wrong parts. I also object to men (including crossdressers) being in the restroom with me. If an MtF is truly a TS, then they’re truly a woman. I believe we all use the ladies room for the same reasons. A true-TS is not ‘confused’ about what they are since their conviction is unshakable. Diagnosed transsexual women usually take hormones that substantially diminish sex drive. They may have also had reassignment surgery. So there’s little way they can be a threat. Sure, some may be attracted to women, but some physically born females are too. Is lesbianism in natal females also threatening to you? How can anyone know any woman’s born sex or ‘true’ gender? True-TS’s strive to be like other women in every way, inside and out. You won’t see their genitalia; they tend to be conscious of their condition and don’t want anyone to know they were born like this.

Courtney H.MemberTranssexualism is not a sexual orientation and in itself does not imply that a person is gay or necessarily accepts gays. Of course, TS’s are just as capable of being gay as anyone else in society. Many TS’s may consider themselves to be stuggling in ways similar to gays and lesbians and may therefore join them in a political sense. But gender identity and sexual orientation are not one in the same. Nor is there any direct correlation between transsexualism and any specific sexual activity or conduct.

Courtney H.MemberWhat you are saying may be true, but I’d like you to consider some things. Would you like it if you believed a less qualified or competant person got a job ahead of you? Would you like it if a person with less to offer gets promoted before you? These seem to be equal gripes for both groups. However, more racism (including ‘affirmative action’) will never make up for nor prevent racism. There has to come a time when both sides say, ‘Hey look, I forgive you,’ and both sides stop keeping score. Someone has to make the first move in reconciliation. We must act upon our own good character, not react to the actions of others. Blaming racism or affirmative action fails to account for other reasons for what seems like discrimination. In the job example, nepotism might be a more likely culprit.

Courtney H.MemberTransgender is a broader term and isn’t the same as being transsexual. I feel offended when lumped in with the transgender movement. Transsexualism to me is a birth defect of having the wrong organs for your gender. Transgender tends to imply that a person’s gender is non-standard or something other than the traditional two. In many ways, the 2 concepts are diametrically opposed. Transsexuals tend to believe they were born with the wrong body, that there are only 2 genders, and that gender identity is inborn. The transgender community tends to see society as the problem. They also believe gender is both a social constuct and a continuum. I also feel offended lumped in with unrelated lifestyles based on sexual differences. I feel nobody has the right to tell me I must support certain things or be a certain way merely because I was born with the wrong parts.

Courtney H.MemberYour answer depends on whether you consider their condition a birth defect or a fetish, and whether you are also attracted to GG women. If you’re simply looking for beautiful women regardless of their birth gender, then you are simply a heterosexual man who is attracted to those who regard themselves as female. However, if you’re only seeking TS’s or TV’s, particularly out of a sexual fetish, and prefer such persons with male organs attached, then you could be creating a ‘loophole’ in your mind. Those attracted to ‘shemales’ and transvestites over transsexuals and other women could be attracted to masculinty in their emotional core. But due to social stigma, they may have learned to like women on a superficial level. So they learn to compromise and give themselves permission to love men who look like women, satisfying both their internalized homophobia and their core attraction.

Courtney H.MemberAs a TS, let me say this. An MtF transvestite is a man who likes dressing as a woman and will always be a man. A true MtF transsexual is a woman born with the birth defect of having the wrong genitals and is really a woman in their heart, mind, and soul and intends on fixing their condition. When an MtF TS dresses as a woman, it is because that is what they believe they are in their heart of hearts; there is no deception intended. The motivation has nothing to do with getting sex from anyone who wouldn’t ordinarily do so. In fact, their issue is identity, not sex. It is just as offensive to refer to an MtF TS as a man as it is to call someone racial slur.
