African American Children do not ALWAYS have unusual names. My first name is Kimberly and I can assure you that I was once a child. My first cousin's names are: Stacy, Chappell, Shawn, Alfred, Joseph, Jared, Julian, Jacalyn, Carita, Bernadette, Felicia, and Conrad. I am sure you have heard of most of these names. Many names 'most people' have never heard of are either African names or made-up names...as some AfrAms can be creative when naming children.

I saw someone do this to a girlfriend of mine (she's white) there once. I don't know what that's about...but Baltimore is a strange place, IMO

I suspect it is a class thing. professional AfrAms do not generally have gold teeth, but they are prevalent among people who have roots in the lower and lower middle class.

I work around white women and I can assure you they are just as catty toward each other. Like it or not, quick verbal skill is part of the Black community's history. There's a reason why rap and jazz came from our community, my little sister. We live in the same general area, and I know you can find many different types of AfrAm women (and men) with whom you can feel comfortable. I used to be quiet and nerdy, too...and I have lots of quiet and nerdy friends, and many of them are AfrAm.
