Very simple reason. If you are a woman it is very easy to be sexually active to a greater or lesser extent, there are always men out there who will sleep with you. As a man you do not have that open to you (pardon the pun). Therefore the man is deemed to have worked harder for his rather than a woman who really doesn’t have to do anything at all to get laid. Not saying I necessarily agree with that, just how I feel that happens.

Your attitude may be the problem. It should never be a choice between you and freedom. If you are so possessive that you will give him no freedom, then it is no surprise he doesn’t want to get involved too deeply. Secondly, what on Earth are you wanting commitment for at 20? Enjoy life, find a few Mr. Wrongs and get some experience behind you so you know what you want. If you are mentioning commitment to a 21-year-old man, then if he is not a complete wimp, he will run a mile. I don’t mean this to be rude, but any man who wants commitment at 21 is not worth getting involved with. I notice that when I go away with my mates, it is always the ones who got settled early who are playing around. Those of us who got it out of our system and married later are boring, I guess, but we can’t be bothered to play around.

I’m not Asian but like Asian music. The European/American melodies you like are brought about by the system of notation we use to record sheet music. Previous to this system of notation, discovered by J.S. Bach, most of the music played was on a five-note scale – pentatonic. Once Bach introduced his system of notation with sharps flats and key signatures, it took root across Europe and eventually the United States.

The unfamiliarity you describe in Chinese and Japanese music is caused by their use of the pentatonic scales when the music is composed. In addition, this means the instruments that this music is played on are designed to play the five-note scale.

Eastern European music has this element to it, too, as does Indian music.

If my memory is correct, women on the front line was tried by the Israelis, and it failed miserably. Men, it seems, are much more protective of a wounded woman than a man, and therefore will put themselves and their comrades in more danger by being overprotective. Also, I am told that getting shot at a lot tends to increase the sexual urge, and that a lot of procreation occurs following an engagement.
