LynnParticipantWith me, it’s more of a fidgety thing than anything else. It’s definitely NOT related to sexual stimulation. I find that if I keep my legs crossed for a long time and I don’t fidget, my legs get numb. It may also be related to height. I’m about 5’3′ and my feet rarely rest on the ground comfortably, hence the fidgeting. I expect most men are taller, so they don’t have this problem.

AnnaParticipantWhy does a person tap their fingers on a tabletop when bored or thinking? It’s just something we do obliviously. Men dont do it because men dont cross their legs that somewhat lay one on the other. But they dont move their foot or scratch their beard/chin It’s just a subconscience move.

JaymieParticipantI do this all the time when I cross my legs. Sometimes I just do it unconsciously, other times I do it to help my foot from falling asleep. I also fidget like that when I’m either nervous, excited, or had too much coffee. I do know that some women will dangle their shoe off their toe with their legs crossed, and I always saw that as a sexual thing.

CourtneyMemberI know that when I sit like that and bounce my leg it is simply because I’m bored and need to fidget or that my foot is falling asleep. Some women may do it for sexual reasons, but I’m guessing that those are few and far between.

Celeste-CParticipantI have a habit of constantly moving my legs or feet, whether they are crossed or not. As I spend most of my workday sitting down, most of it is just energy that doesn’t have another outlet. Occasionally, if I am nervous or stressed, I will cross my legs and shake the top foot very quickly, but the rest of the time it is usually just a slow tapping movement. If my legs are uncrossed, I tend to bounce on the balls of my feet. I do this even when my legs are completely hidden by my desk, so it has nothing to do with gaining attention.

d-pParticipantNope, no sexual stimulation. You see it more often and more ‘vigerously’ in people that have higher metabolism. It’s simply another way to burn off nervous energy.

MeiranParticipantHonestly, it’s just fidgeting. I don’t know about all women, but when I cross my legs, no matter how polite and proper it might be, it also puts my foot to sleep. So keeping my circulation going, a subconcious need to move around, and being basically a big fidget in the first place means I tend to do what you describe. There’s no sexual stimulation involved, that type of movement doesn’t really involve the muscles that it would take to do that.

HaleyParticipantI do this all the time, and it has never crossed my mind that it could be thought of as ‘sexual stimulation.’ I think when women do it, it is just a habit that half the time they dont even realize they are doing, just like anyone would tap a pen on a desk or crack their knuckles.

NadiaParticipantI fidget with my legs crossed because I’m restless or bored. That’s about all the meaning I can give ya. I’ve never heard of anything else.

Amy-HParticipantMoving one’s legs in the manner you are describing doesn’t provide sexual stimulation. It’s simply a fidgety movement. It might be an unconscious indicator of boredom, impatience, or irritation, but it has nothing to do with sex. Not being a man I can’t say why women do this and men don’t, but from what I’ve seen most men don’t cross their legs in the same manner than women do.

Rene30141ParticipantI do it because otherwise, the leg on top falls asleep. Maybe because women usually have their legs crossed longer/more often, this is why you don’t see men doing it.

Emma25386ParticipantIt’s usually just a subconscious nervous habit.

RachelMemberI do that, and it has nothing to do with sex or flirting or anything like that.. it usually means one (or more) of the following: I have to pee, I’m cold, I’m nervous, I’m anxious, I have energy to burn..

Michele20515ParticipantMore often than not, it’s a movement made without concious thought. I am sure on occasion, when flirting, a woman will do it to make a man’s attention be drawn to the legs. But for the most part, crossing the legs is a very uncomfortable position that cuts circulation off to the upper foot, and the movement probably helps with that.
