I don't know how one determines if one is 'top' or 'bottom,' but my experience as a homosexual would indicate that many if not most gay men identify either way. The running joke in Atlanta is that it's a city full of bottoms and no tops. I've heard this said about practically every city I've ever visited.

An ex-girlfriend of mine would accuse me of this and say it's because of my A.A. (Alan Alda) degree.

While this is a deviation from the norm in terms of sexual turn-ons for women, I disagree with the categorization of you as a fag-hag. A fag-hag is a woman who seeks out gay men as her primary source of friendship, often to the exclusion of relationships with heterosexual males. There are many reasons women would seek the company of gay men - we tend to be less judgmental of the way a woman looks, for instance, leading to the stereotype that frequently fag-hags are large women. Anyway, what you are dealing with is a simple fantasy, and it's not that unusual. I have a straight female friend who finds gay pornographic videos highly erotic; she loves the way the men look and probably finds the men on gay porn better looking than the men on straight porn. This is the equivalent to men who enjoy looking at two women involved in lesbian sex. As to the glory-hole fantasy at rest areas, I'd leave that as a fantasy, ma'am. The State Police generally frown on it, and it would involve a woman being in a men's room, which in itself is probably illegal. I suppose you could always go to an adult video arcade - they have such peepholes. I just don't think you'll find that many gay men to fulfill your fantasies there (at least not willingly).

I'm a gay man that believe that gay and lesbian adoption may not be the ideal situation--but it's probably no less ideal than others and, from a statistical standpoint, economically superior (gays and lesbians tend to have higher incomes on average). Children do benefit from having parents of both genders but the reality of is that this hardly seems to work out. Either the parents are divorced or one parent or the other spends so much time chasing down a career that at least one gender is absent for practical purposes. I believe studies have been done that indicate that having gay parents (natural or adoptive) doesn't seem to have much impact on whether or not children are gay.

I went to college at the University of Kansas in the late 1970s and I was impressed by the fact that in Lawrence, Kansas, a big deal was made of my southern accent. At 18, my solution was to repress it (and eventually, that repression stuck). Come to find out that Kansas is a divided state, with people in Arkansas City speaking 'southern' and people in Leavenworth speaking 'northern.' My only guess as to why this is true is that Kansas, historically, was a major trigger point for the Civil War (and Ang Lee's latest film release soon will depict this)--and was a battleground between the forces in support of slavery and the forces opposing it. Many people moved to Kansas from New England and other states above the Mason-Dixon line in support of abolition and settled places like Lawrence (named for Lawrence, MA) and slaveholders moved from places like Georgia and settled places like Atlanta, Kansas.

I read about this story on the front page of the local gay newspaper in Atlanta, The Southern Voice, so at least the gay media isn't ignoring it. The story was covered, however, because right-wing activists have attempted to exploit this story in their attempt to tell the 'real story' about homosexuals. This story really tells nothing about homosexuals in general. We are probably just as prone to criminal despicable behaviour as any other group of people. I will say that the kid in Arkansas was targeted by these criminals not because of his sexual orientation, but because he was a convenient and perhaps somewhat willing victim. In all fairness, the Matthew Shephard murder was exploited in much the same way and Shephard was portrayed as something like a teenaged saint. My suspicion was that he was also a somewhat willing victim. Shephard did go with his attackers and must have realized there was some danger in that decision. As someone said about the Shephard case, 'don't leave your purse on the subway and be surprised when you come back and find it stolen.' I am in no way saying that someone who does something stupid deserves to die--I am saying that erring on the side of caution is almost always appropriate.
