While your time may be valuable, I'd be willing to bet the person who stutters also puts value on his time. A friend of mine stutters even more under stress than if he is fairly relaxed, and he says that when he KNOWS someone is impatient with his stammer, it puts stress on him, and he stammers worse. I've also learned from him that I don't always know what he is going to say until he has finished saying it. So try a little patience, and try not to assume. The stutterer might just be able to relax a little and be able to speak a little better.

I believe the substance you are asking about is called agar. True gelatin is derived from boiling hooves and hides from animals, and yes, by kosher law, cannot be used to make those popular Jello puddings, which contain milk products. Agar is derived from a type of seaweed, which is vegetable, and has no dietary taboos. Agar, like gelatin, has no flavor of its own, so is a perfect medium for gelled foods. It's also the medium in which bacterial cultures are grown in laboratories, if that doesn't put you off.

Handfasting is, indeed a 'marriage' ceremony for witches and other pagans. And depending on which tradition you belong to, it can be for 'a year and a day', after which you have the option of renewing or going your separate ways. If you renew, it is usually for life, and sometimes, again depending on your tradition, into the afterlife. Some states and provinces will recognise this ceremony, but only if the handfasting ceremony is 'forever'. Considering the ease with which divorce can be obtained these days, I have never understood this requirement.
