I got head lice when I was in the second grade. At the time, I was uncomfortable with having a lot of hair oil in my hair, so my mom stopped using so much. That was then I got it. After my mom kept oiling my hair as usual for a few days, and washing it, I literally watched my mom wash the lice bug out of my hair and down the drain, and that was the end of that. Many African americans use oil in thier hair. They straighten it, braid it, wear it naturally and pick it, or cut it very short. Most styles with braids are pulled very tightly to the scalp, leaving no room for insects; and most women with straight or relaxed hair use oils and hot hair appliances daily. All of the short cuts, oil, chemical relaxers, hot appliances, and constant changing of styles keeps insects from latching on and making a home.

I've heard plenty of black men say they do and don't ... some will often tell others that they don't, while in other company, they say they actually do. Sometimes I think that many black men see it as a sort of weakness - that if they actually do it in private and confess to doing it in public, they are seen as less of a 'man.' Apparently, black men are supposed to be so great at sex that all it takes is little to no foreplay, and then lots of 'normal' sex. Many black men and women like to put each other down a great deal as far as sex and relationships go. I feel this is part of the problem. If a black man is prone to putting down black women a lot, they will probably never admit to performing oral sex on a black woman because she 'doesn't deserve it.' The women do this, too. I think everyone involved in this perception game needs to grow up.

My cousn is a malekindergarden teacher. He just loves kids, and loves to see them learn. I don' really understand why, in some cases, people have to have a better explanation of why people choose a career, even if its considered uncommon for people similar to them to choose it.

Here are some reasons I know of: 1.It's expected: they just do it because it's actually an unspoken social 'requirement'. 2.They want to attract men. 3.They want to appear more beautiful than they think they really are. 4. They want to impress people in general with thier femininity. (more unspken social stuff) Basically, it's just something they were taught to do to be proper females in society. Women who don't do this are generally considered plain and/or unattractive.

From where I sstand, people seem to like pointing fingers, and America makes a convenient target. It's a general human deficiency.
