My grandmother is Filipino and I have never heard her smack once. I have heard plenty of people who aren’t Filipino smack. I doubt seriously that it has anything to do with culture.

I agree with the other responses that if you are a good teacher it does not matter what your sexual orientation is. However, I do not feel that it would be appropriate to openly flaunt homosexuality in front of impressionable young children. I certainly wouldn’t want my son to believe that it is an acceptable lifestyle.

I was married to an abusive man for 3 years and I understand what you’re going through. If you’ve suggested to him that he needs help for his behavior, and he refuses or doesn’t seem to think that he has a problem, then the only choice you have is to get out. Go to a relative or friend. Cease all contact with the abuser. You will have to be strong, and you will have to depend on the strength of those around you. Don’t stay there. You deserve better.

I understand your disgust with the patient upset at not being overweight enough to get disability. My problem is with your last statement about ‘two hours in the gym each night and substantially less food intake.’ I am overweight, yes I do have a thyroid problem which now makes it nearly impossible for me to lose weight. However, I have always been on the chubby side. If I could spend two hours in the gym and thought that would fix it, I certainly would. Being overweight is not a choice. I have thin friends that eat as much or more than I do and they don’t gain weight the same as me, nor do they spend any time in a gym. Everybody and every body is different. You’ve obvioulsy never had a weight problem or had someone close to you that did. It’s not something that is as easy to ‘cure’ as just eating less. Don’t be so narrow minded.

Since I was a teenager, smacking has been one of my biggest pet peeves! It’s just rude and disgusting! My 8 year old son has more manners than alot of adults I see out eating in public!
