NicoleParticipantOn a societal level, black men have been and will always be negatively portrayed as criminals, drug dealers, robbers, and the list goes on. Because of these socially constructed ideas, it is hard for white people not to lock their doors or clutch onto their purses. Basically this is what whites have been taught to do because of the racial ideologies about black men. It is not white people’s fault if they do it and then realize that they don’t have to do it. It is their fault when they realize that they don’t have to do it and continue to do it.

NicoleParticipantI guess you would be amazed that white males wear their pants blow their butts as well. I have seen mainstream America emulate this ‘crap;’ hence, the lowrise jeans for women and men. Now, so what if they drive an Escalade with rims and live in apartment. What does that have to anything? Where do you live and what kind of car do you drive? You are displaying a little stupidity yourself! Yes they may be watching BET and wanting to emulate what they see, but it is true for whites who look at supermodels or celebrities and want to be skinny to have that ‘perfect’ body. So what do you have to say about that? It is sad because what you said adds to the stereotypes about blacks, not what they wear.

NicoleParticipantWow, your description also describes white, hispanic, and asian men as well. So black men are the only ones who dress poorly, have bad manners, have bad hygiene, and engage in aggressive talk? Where in America is this place you encounter this behavior? Personally, I see this manifested in everyone, not just black males. Reality check, white people beg on the streets too. So if you look at the big picture, it is not just black men. Yes, you receive crap, but what did you say or do to receive the crap? Don’t be scared of black men, because while you are being scared of them, they might be feeling the same way about you. Think about it!

NicoleParticipantI don’t think it is acceptable at all rather it be a black or a white person saying it. Blacks are quick to say that it is okay for blacks to say it to each other, but it is not. People of all races will never understand what black slaves experiecned. Yes, we read it in history books or discuss it with people, but no matter what, no one have or will experience what our ancestors went through. If we did we would not coin the term ‘nigga’ as a term of endearment, which is so close to ‘nigger.’ Stop and think about it. We can not be mad if a white person address their black friends by saying, ‘What’s up nigga?’ because we as blacks say it. Would our ancestors accept the explanation that there is a big difference between the word ‘nigga’ and ‘nigger?’ What’s up dawg, homie, son, kid, and the other words are fine, but why add the word ‘nigga’ to the list?
