About 10 years ago, my family researched our family tree. The farthest back we got was to an African slave, owned by a English man (also my great, great...somebody)in Virginia. Anything before that is news to me. Most blacks' stories are like mine. We don't have any connection because our ancestors were not allowed one. Therefore, two hundred years later, my connection and loyalty lie with the US. I am a black American, not African-American. African-American, to me, suggests that I was not born here and as long as I pay taxes, this country is mine. Ebonics has nothing to do with Africa. It's just communication that we invented and are still inventing.

It crossed over into the straight community because of confused, bisexual people who don't know what they want. Also, not every straight person who has AIDS got it from sex. The only two people I know that had it got it from a blood transfusion. The difference between you and me is that I was born black; you choose who you jump in the bed with. Two totally different issues.

Sometimes, it's just easier to keep your houseshoes on than to put on tennis, especially when you're just running in the store quickly. I will admit that I was guilty of doing this, however, after much berrating from my mother on how lazy I appeared to be, I have since given up that habit and urge all my black sisters to do the same. HA HA.

I don't have anything against gay/homosexual legal unions. However, marriage is a religious institution. The bible states clearly that homosexuality is an abomination so certainly homosexual marriages are even worse! Homosexuality is a sin, period. The difference between this sin and other sins is that homosexuals revel in their sin. Most people want to stop sinning, theft, murder, lying, etc. Homosexuals enjoy their sin and it's bad enough that they are so obvious with it, now they want to get married. Enough already!!

When my ancestors were brought over here from Africa, they were stripped of all of their 'Africaness'. So much so that four hundred years later, we still cannot trace what part of Africa we are from. Most black Americans have tried to find their roots but thorough records were not kept in the 1600's so a good majority of us have no idea. Does it bother us that we have no connection to Africa? Of course, but nothing can be done about that now, so why pine over it. I would love to know where in Africa my ancestors, but, right now I know for a fact that I was born here. I love this country.

That is so wierd because I am really into British comedies and I started to pick up the different accents from different on the shows. It's very interesting how small England is but how diverse the accents and dialogues are. But, how in the world can you confuse Americans with Canadians? They talk so funny (No offense to any Canadians, eh?).

Between the ages of 5 and 12, my grandmother used to give us kids a hot toddy made from moonshine when we were sick. Talk about toasted! But when I woke up that next morning, I had nary a sniffle. As a matter of fact, I absolutely swear by hot toddies today! It's the only thing that got rid of my flu two years ago. Of course, I don't think that kids should be drunk, however, getting them a little toasted when they're sick is ok.

You need to go to the cops, immediately and get away from this guy. You said you were scared to go to the cops because he may seek revenge. Girl, he is already taking revenge by hitting on you in the first place. Have you ever tried hitting him back? I know that fighting is not the answer (you do need to go to the cops) but if you bucked up to him when he tried to hit you, maybe he would think twice. I'd already be in jail if he was my boyfriend. Not only that, God forbid something really bad happens to you, if his abuse goes unreported now, how is your family supposed to prosecute him then? Good luck.

Look, you need to stand up for yourself. Don't let anyone, black or otherwise, cut in front of you, talk to you crazy, whatever. We have come a long way in this country and black women have to go through a lot to get along sometimes. However, that does not give us the right to treat you less than a human being, period. People sometimes need to be told rather than asked. The next time you say excuse me to one of us and we don't respond, say B&*^%, get out the way!!!
