Sloppy and obese?? I may be a large size woman, but it is NO indication of my attitude, or my pocketbook! I think perhaps you had issues in this area because people sensed your bias.

In the original post, the writer was saying that the word ‘gay’ was being used instead of another word like ‘stupid’ or ‘dumb’. That is what bothers her…things being ‘gay themed’ merely implies that they are geared toward a marticular market. To use ‘gay’ as a negative label for anything is wrong. We have a friend who did it frequently…until we started inserting his first name where he had used ‘gay’. For example, when he commented that a song was ‘so gay’, I looked him right in the eye, and said ‘I don’t like it either. It really is a pretty Dave song!’. He got the point. Pick one identifier of yourself, and imagine it casually being tossed about as an insult.

I am the mother of 5 children, ranging from pre-school to high school. It makes no difference to me who a person loves, as long as the educational needs of my kids are being met. I would hope that parents would be intelligent enough to know that that is what matters.

A lot of people simply think that deep inside, everyone harbors a secret desire to have kids. It could also be that they are so deleriously happy being parents that they want you to be as fulfilled as they are. I have 5 children, one of whom passed away due to SIDS. I love my kids..they are my main focus in life. But, to be honest, there are days (and occasionally a week or two..) when I really envy my childless sister. She and her fiance travel, have money to buy a large plot of land to build their dream house, etc. I became a mother at 19. I have completed 2 years of college, but no degree. My sister is working on her Masters. Be happy with who you are, be grateful you know yourself as well as you do, and if anyone asks if you feel the need to ‘replace’ yourself on earth, tell them that Meredith has covered your quota for you…grin
