I’m a white chick with extremely thick hair. I cannot wash it every day, either, or it gets all dry and unmanageable, as you said. That doesn’t make me unclean. When I do wash my hair, I have to spray it with oil sheen. That’s how dry it gets. So it’s not a race thing. I would love to have perfect, manageable hair like other people when I jump out of the shower, but I have to make due with what God gave me.

I think some people just don’t know.honestly!! i’ve had people say…’how much am i supposed to tip you?’ I have no idea what to say !! Ummm…100 bucks will be fine. Most people don’t realize that we don’t get paid other than our tips either. so that presents a problem. i overheard two ladies arguing about leaving a tip one time.the lady who wanted to leave a tip said ‘ just leave a dollar it won’t kill you ‘ the other lady replied ‘all of those other tables she has are going to leave her a dollar, that’s enough, don’t worry about it’ I wanted to say ‘not if everyone thinks like you do!!!’ i know that alot of old people leave quarters and stuff, and stuck up business men/women sometimes leave nothing. it’s not just black people. sometimes people just don’t like YOU. Like for example, one of my co-workers is gay…and people are always making silly excuses so that he won’t wait on them. Saying he might have AIDS !?! The point is…it’s normally the clientel.if you work in a run-down neighborhood…you’re gonna get uneducated people…if you work in a five star restaurant your gonna get a bunch of stuffy snobs. Don’t take it all personally…you can’t please everyone…just do your best!!!

We were never beaten, not even spanked. We always had food and my father and mother were constantly caring and loving parents.We were never deprived of love !! Then…we were taken away to live in a red-neck town with a screwed up family in a trailor. The family we lived with only used foster children for money and ‘slaves’. All of us had to clean up after them daily, watch the kids THEY were paid to babysit, and at the end of the day, if we were finished with our ‘chores’ we would beg and plead to take a walk. If we were granted our wish…we were allowed to walk down the driveway and back.And if we were lucky we could walk to the stop sign and back. While they ate mcdonalds or what not for dinner…we had 3 day old potato soup. We constanly had head lice because with the many children going in and out…it was hard to get rid of. The foster parents never hurt us…but instead were emotionally unavailable. I missed my parents all the time. Sometimes there would be weeks when i didn’t see them. it’s very hard to go from being hugged all the time, taking a shower when you feel like it, or going outside or in the refrigerator without having to ask or even beg… to being so confined. All i wondered when i was there was…what did ‘I’ do wrong? Why did ‘they’ bring me here? i was only there for one year…but it was a hard, long year. and to this day…i haven’t forgiven the system !!

All of us rely on our tips.Think about it…if the waitress/waiter brings your drinks,refills them a few times, takes away all your dishes, cleans up after you leave(sweeping up your mess,clearing everything,wiping off the table and chairs) and you leave nothing…you have just treated them as a slave…and believe me…$2.13 an hour is NOTHING when u take away taxes.So please, atleast leave a dollar.And that means a dollar per person, because if you were alone…you would leave atleast a dollar. So there is no difference when you are with a group of people.Also…if you bring in a child, and your child happens to make a huge mess, i.e. scribbles on the table,throws all the food on the floor, think again about who has to clean it up !!
