    To T.C.-That's not being responsible it's called being paternalistic. You may want to look that big word up. To Roger-It's called capitalism. And like it or not is the system we have. It sort of assumes that individuals are not dumb chattel but can judge and decide for themselves. And then we spend our money where we want. I actually think that we should sue the 'Healthy Food Industry' for not saving me from those big meanies.

    What I have seen is that America is at once the most envied and most resented nation. The paradoxical view that many have pointed out goes much deeper than just war. One of the most recent events that got my attention was the AIDS summit in Africa this year. The U.S. and its allies continue to pony up billions of dollars in aid and pharmaceuticals yet were berated in the press and by the different groups attending as not having done enough. I feel that I live in the most blessed nation on earth. And part of living in this country means that I bless others. I wish my leaders could be as altruistic and benevolent as I strive to be. We are a most envied yet most despised people.
