I’ve heard it called the ‘Athena Complex’, but I see nothing wrong with identifying with the other sex. We’d all be androgenous if we weren’t so conditioned into gender roles.

It’s good to know that I’m not the only one going through this. I have never been able to connect with other women because of their cattiness. I am intelligent and talented and I think other women hate me for it although I’m not arrogant. I think it comes from lack of self esteem. Young girls are taught to look for self worth in all the wrong places, such as appearance and the approval of others. A self-confident woman is everything they’re not.

I am one of the women who hates chivalry. When someone is just trying to be nice I will be gracious, but you can tell when a man’s intentions are not good. If you open the door for that same man and he gets embarrassed or won’t allow it, I find that offensive.

These ‘professional women’ you mentioned probably have a very different view on life, even though their ads might hint at common ground. Their goals in life might be more materialistic, while it seems like having a job you enjoy is more important to you. I consider myself an independent woman and I would not want to date someone who had a significantly larger income because there wouldn’t be enough common ground.
