As for it coming to your attention 'that this could be viewed as illegal,' not only could it be viewed as illegal, it most definitely is illegal, if you guys have 'fooled around.' And regardless of who started the relationship, he would be the one to suffer the consequences, because the law looks at it as child molestation or rape whether he knows your age or not.
