Maybe it’s possible that white people tend to be more demanding/rude toward you if they can tell over the phone that you are Black and vice versa. I could see where it would be easier for some people to be more disrespectful and rude to people outside of their own racial group just because they think it’s acceptable behavior. I notice a trend in the responses where White people say that Black people complain a lot and Black people say that White people complain a lot. As far as privilege is concerned, White people have more privilege than any other racial group in the United States, there is no doubt about it. I’m not trying to say that White do not work hard and that they do not earn everything they have because they do, but success comes far more easily to White people than any other group. If you think it’s not true, imagine yourself as a person of another ethnicity in almost every aspect of your life…going to the store, shopping for homes/apts., going to college, being a student, customer service, getting a job, etc. I am a poor White person but it is something that can easily be disguised and I get the best service and treatment in every aspect of my life because of the color of my skin. I don’t have to tell anyone that I am of a lower class and no one ever assumes any differently. People of color cannot escape these stereotypes as easily even if they aren’t lower class and poor like me.
