    It probably means she was preoccupied but acknowledging your request at the same time. I don’t always give my full attention to someone who is only speaking in passing. If you had said excuse me to me I may have said nothing but moved, anyway. uh-huh just means ‘I hear you, I’m moving.’ Lighten up.

    I’ve seen guys do this in high school and at my university. It’s usually on expensive caps and tennis shoes. To me it’s stupid, but obviously they wantd everybody to know about their expensive whatevers.

    I wouldn’t get offended because I saw a white person wearing dreads. I don’t enjoy seeing dreads that aren’t maintained well (black or white), but to each his own. But like someone said earlier, white dreads just tend to look matted and dirty.

    I’m a female and I read while handling business, especially if I know I’m going to take a while…I’m a college student and I have to economize my time, so if I know it’s going to take more than a minute, why not take some of my assigned reading or the new novel I just bought with me? I’m not doing anything else with my hands at the time. But maybe that’s just me. It’s better than staring at the wall or ceiling.
