It could be anything other than a fetish. The fact that you’re a woman may lend interest by that social legend, ‘ladies do not fart’. He may just be reminding himself that we’re all in the same boat in regard to farts. The other thing to consider is that he actually finds it amusing (as many people do) when somebody farts. For starters, a lot of people associate a person’s occupation/wages with certain intelligence levels because they assume the person can’t do any better, i.e., lack of education or ability. The other part is that minimum wage jobs aren’t very desirable in general and are hard to fill, so employers usually take what they can get. Some people work out very well and are real assets, while others are abysmal failures. Often, an employee will not value themselves because of low pay or do not envision what they are doing as a ‘keeper’ job. If they lose a job at McDonald’s one week, they may pick up another at Pizza Hut the next. Sometimes the attitude will show through to the customer. I think the best thing you can do is not worry about customer attitudes, they can be awful anywhere, according to my parents who worked at various retail establishments. Pay your dues, get that degree and move onto something better. Just don’t forget to be a little more forgiving when you get tomatoes in your taco like I did, when I specifically asked for none.
