This statement is a fallacy. Although many Muslims do hate Jews, they are often ignorantly conflate Jews with Zionism and on the other end many Jews confalte a Muslim’s scorn for Zionism with hatred of Jews. Moreover, there are verses in the Qur’an that show certain populations of Arabian Jews from the 7th century (CE) to have been deceitful vis-a-vis the role of the Prophet Muhammad. Thus, it is easy for poor and simple minded folk to reify that disservice with modern-day Zionism and Israeli policies towards Muslims in Palestine and towards the city of Jerusalem which at the very beginning of Islam was the city that one turned to pray toward.

First of all, there is a difference betweent the Middle East and Islam. One cannot use the terms interchangeablly like you did. Most Muslims -to make my point- do not live in the Middle East. The term the ‘Middle East’ is in itself problematic since it is a Western-centric term alien to the region it covers. In Egypt, 20% of the population is Christian. These Christians are just as likely to practice female circumcision since it is a ‘cultural’ practice not a religous one. Most Muslims and or Christians in Egypt or elsewhere would look at the practice as highly unfavorable. In Islam, for instance, one duty of a man to his wife is to give her sexual pleasure. Obviously, if she has been deformed this is not possible.

I think it would be most correct to say that what you ate is food that some Jews eat sometimes. Nothing is especially ‘Jewish’ or ‘Hebrew’ about what you ate. As to the difference between terms, ‘Hebrew’ refers to an ancient enthnic group that no longer exists as such. However, types of food they consumed people today still know how to make. ‘Jewish’ can mean a million things. It can mean something that is ‘Kashrut,’ or ‘kosher’ or it can mean something that Jews in a specific culture happen to be eating. The rules of deciding what is Kosher also vary among different groups of Jews since obviously not all Jews haev the same standards or are religious.
